Democrats assail Bush's N. Korea policy

By LIZ SIDOTI, Associated Press Writer 13 minutes ago

Democrats seized on North Korea's brazen act to criticize President Bush's record in confronting the communist regime, contending the administration's focus on Iraq ignored legitimate threats.

Democratic Sen. John Kerry, the president's rival in 2004 and a potential 2008 candidate, assailed Bush's policy as a "shocking failure," and said, "While we've been bogged down in Iraq where there were no weapons of mass destruction, a madman has apparently tested the ultimate weapon of mass destruction."

One month before midterm elections, North Korea's reported nuclear test provided Republicans an opportunity to shift the focus from their embarrassing — and politically explosive — congressional page scandal to national security, an issue the GOP considers its strength.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (news, bio, voting record) of Kentucky, the Senate's second-ranking Republican, accused Democrats of playing partisan politics with a nuclear weapons threat. "Listening to some Democrats, you'd think the enemy was George Bush, not Kim Jong Il," he said.

Seizing on North Korea's actions to argue Republicans are stronger on security than Democrats is riddled with pitfalls and leaves the GOP's standard-bearer — Bush — as well as his rank-and-file vulnerable to criticism.

The president long has faced complaints that he has failed to sufficiently address North Korea and the threat has festered on his watch.

In the nearly five years since Bush labeled North Korea part of an "axis of evil" with Iran and Iraq, Kim Jong Il's government has withdrawn from the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, announced it has nuclear weapons, refused to return to six-nation talks and launched seven missiles into the Sea of Japan, including a long-range Taepodong-2.

Once again, any of these vociferous critics have any better ideas? Such as giving the North Koreans a reactor? Any ideas at all? Bueller?

Yes, the DUMMYCrats solution is to give into blackmail and claim a diplomatic victory in solving the North Korean crisis. Of course, we all know that there is no such thing, and Il will be back in a few years stronger demanding even more concessions with more threats of blackmail.

When will average Americans smell the coffee????

With Kerry as president we or probably Madam Half-bright would still be kissing Kim Jong's Jong.

Kerry is one ugly looking cowardly screwball Carpetbagger.

A strategy of avoid war at all costs is bound to work one of these times. At worst, human caused global warming will cease to be a problem...replaced by protection of giant radioactive mutated cockroaches.

Kerry would have done it smarter. He would have engaged in effective policies that would have engaged the North Koreans in the spirit of goodwill that would have been successful in achieving the goal of a peaceful Korean Peninsula.

Typical Democrats. Bash the President instead of the country that's a threat.

It's amazing these people take themselves seriously. It really should give hope to even the most lowly loser.

What is shocking is that the Dems are so willing to politicize matters of national security and that voters are ready to reward this behavior in November.

Ever notice how whatever happens that is bad in this world , next day the democrats blame it on President Bush. Sometimes they let Pelosi break the news . sometimes Kerry, sometimes Reid or Fat Ted, but they all have the same schtick. It gets a little boring. They need some new material. They need to get a friggin clue.

The old joke "Bush's fault" really applies to the know-nothing do-nothing Democrats. Something bad happens, blame the President. The media plays along. When a future Democrat is President (shudder), Republicans in their statements to the press will responsibly speak to the source of the problem instead of reflexively pointing fingers for political gain, and the media will play along with that too.

It might be worthwhile to remind them how N.Korea GOT in this position - have they ever heard of Jimmah Carter and Beelzebubba Clinton!!?? Before they go down this road, they better make sure they want Bush bringing those two names up in conjunction with N.Korea . . . . . . . might not be pretty next month!

These Bozo's don't even make sence when you really think about what they are saying. Who's bogged down in Iraq, the military? Even assuming that were true what difference does that make exactly? It's not like if we had our military sitting on bases at home that the little fruitcake would stop playing with his nukes. He wants the attention and hopes to get his blakmail payola.

Of course if this crowd of left wing moobats takes power you can bet Lil Kim will be swimming in bribes to behave. Sure elect the dems and we can raise taxes as a levy to keep the payoffs to anyone who rattles a saber.

The complaints would have been even louder if he'd popped that boil.

Kerry a loser?

He served in Vietnam were rumor has it he won three, I say again, three Purple Hearts (for life threatening wounds, I’m sure). Got to spend Christmas in Cambodia back in the day where I’m sure he had fun raping, cutting off ears and pillaging (as he reported to the world). Now, does that sound like a loser!

Ran a losing presidential campaign within a losing party … now does that sound like a loser? … er, wait. I will have to take a timeout and rewrite this. Back later.

Did I mention that he served in Vietnam?
