TAMPA, FL- Congresswoman Katherine Harris, the Republican candidate for the United States Senate, soundly defeated Bill Nelson this evening by a 54% to 45% margin in the straw poll conducted at the Lakeland Bi-Annual Politics in the Park. The Harris campaign continues to build momentum, engendering tremendous grassroots support throughout the state with a pro-growth, pro-family message that resonates across the political spectrum.
Congresswoman Harris commented, I appreciate the strong support of a majority of voters who are disillusioned with Bill Nelsons lack of leadership and his record of voting against Floridas best interests. I will fight for Florida in the United States Senate.
The Lakeland Bi-Annual Politics in the Park straw poll illustrates the widespread support that exists for Harris consistent message of cutting taxes, eliminating wasteful spending, protecting the institution of marriage and opposing amnesty for illegal citizens. Congresswoman Katherine Harris is the only candidate with a demonstrated record of leadership who will fight for Floridas values in the U.S. Senate.
Katherine Harris, the Republican Candidate for the United States Senate, currently serves as the Representative for Floridas 13th Congressional District. After receiving a Masters in Public Policy from Harvards Kennedy School of Government, she continued a distinguished career in public service to her native state that began in the State Senate and as Floridas last elected Secretary of State. She resides in Longboat Key with her husband Anders Ebbeson and his 24-year-old daughter, Louise along with the constituents of District thirteen.

It's nice to see the only non-rino running in Florida doing well.
I feel the same way... sometimes. Then I think back to the Clinton elections... Gore's 'popular-vote' and Kerry's 49M votes... and realize that the stupidity of the American voter should never be underestimated.
That is why the Dems are making this WWIII. They now they are getting killed and that is why they have gone nuclear because they are desperate.
Mark my words, the Republicans pick up seats in the House and Senate.
Someone has been drinking that Kool Aid, right? |
I certainly appreciate words of optimism. If this comes to pass, or anything near it, I'll buy ya a beer!
Straw Poll or Concrete POLE she still beats nelson hands down. I've said it ever since she got in the race.
BOOK IT DANO!
what's your gender???
actually...if that is the way you celebrate...ok by me...that is as long as K. Harris beats that dope nelson!!!!
as valid as gallup pew nyt reutrers ap,etc
I think you'd better check with Joe Redner first. I think he has the "concession" on people taking their clothes off on Dale Mabry. (end/sarcasm)
If I was of the caliber of clothes-doffing individuals employed by Redner, Harris would win in a landslide.
IMO, I very much doubt any poll showing Harris losing by double digits in a race for the Senate in Florida.
Whether she'll win I do not know. The GOP establishment did great harm to her with their campaign against her even running, let alone winning the primary. The state has still proven over the past few elections they lean more conservative in preference at this time and Jeb is still popular. If the estabishment fully unites behind her as they've claimed to have done, she could possibly pull this off even at this late date. But no question she'd have been in a better position had the GOP not interfered with whisper campaigns against her at the start.
I do not recall who said it, but Senator Nelson was most appropriaately described as "Senator Howdy Doody" by a FReeper who was ever so much more adroit with the English language than I.
Senator Howdy Doody Nelson should be, and I sincerely hope he will be, retired with prejudice next month.
C'mon, Floriduh voters, let's send this puppet back home!
Yo! Bro! Glad to hear that you and Apollo are healthy and doing well!
You got the Army squared away yet?
I hope Katherine wins, also. Will do a little politicking for her in the coming weeks.
Time to retire Howdy Doody Nelson -- he's so fiftyish, dontchaknow?
Don't be a stranger, and stay safe!
Eagles Up!
