4D Ultrasound
|
Baby Preview offers you a look inside the womb-- with 4-D ultrasound. The Anderson family sees its newest member for the first time. "There's his feet," his mom Lisa points out.
But his big brothers can clearly see his face... The shape of his nose... Even the way he likes to chew on his feet. "Kind of interesting to see what your baby actually looks like before you have it," dad Thomas comments. "This is a nice bonding experience to actually see the baby."
"There's nothing like seeing something. It makes it real," say the folks at Baby Preview. 4D animation shows the baby moving. But this isn't a diagnostic, medical exam. Baby Preview in Wauwatosa provides parents-to-be with these pictures as keepsakes. Owner Lorraine Paradinovich loves her job. "It's very exciting to see the dads, particularly first time dads, respond and the moms and the siblings...It's wonderful."
Paradinovich and her business partner Joanne Nobisch started the business about a year ago. Nobisch worked as an ultrasound tech in the medical field for decades, and decided to take on the new challenge. "I decided why not, it's a new way to use my skills and help parents really bond with their baby to be," she told us. Some doctors criticize "boutique ultrasound" businesses-- saying parents confuse the pictures with a true diagnostic ultrasound. But Baby Preview has a policy to address that issue, Paradinovich says. "We require that they have their 18 week diagnostic from the doctor and that they're under prenatal care.
And if Baby Previews ultrasound does turn up any abnormalities in the baby, they send the scans and the information directly to the client's doctor. The Andersons say they loved the experience. They just wish it had been available when they had their other two boys. "I would definitely recommend it for anyone who is pregnant. It's an amazing experience," Lisa said. Parents take home a CD full of snapshots. They can also get a DVD or VHS showing the baby's movements inside the womb.

I think this is good for humanizing a 'fetus' but, personally, I'd rather just wait till the tyke popped out of the oven :)

Perhaps these could be used for pro-life posters during their protests instead of what they currently use. I was deeply offended by what they were showing and I sure as hell didn't like the fact that I had my 5 year old in the car at the time, at a stop light, while they were on the corner.
I'm all for free speech, but I think I deserve the right to decide what and how messages are delivered to my children.
Using photo's like the one shown in the original post, IMHO, would be a much better option to show the left what their decisions are destroying.

Abortion-rights advocates achieve acceptance by dehumanizing the unborn. Someone who sees a picture of a mangled fetus won't think "Oh, that's a little person"--they'll think "Hurry up and flush it down the sink already". Far better instead to focus on showing the unborn as people.

It's a good idea, why don't you help with the movement and use the ultrasound pics. at the abortion mills in your area. Let me know how you make out. Many in this country are brought up and taught that abortion is OK, that there is no life in the womb, that it's just a blob of protoplasm, just an inconvenience, that it's not alive and that one is not considered human until the shoulders are out of the birth canal. Those pictures prove a point. Personally, I don't like to use them at the abortion mills, they are better used at high schools and campuses and other public places.

A lady I know has a bumpersticker on her car "If it's not a baby, you're not pregnant" and she does get comments from women who say "I'm pro-choice, but your bumpersticker really made me think..."

I'm not certain you got my point. I don't disagree with the message. I disagree with the choice of delivery. Would you want your 5 year old sitting through an extended Scarface trailer before the start of Peter Pan?

Prenatal Portraits: Darling or Dangerous?
Many businesses offer ultrasound pictures and videos of unborn babies for entertainment purposes, but some experts say these fun pictures could be harmful.

David Kupelian points out, in his great book "The Marketing Of Evil", that it was ultrasounds of the unborn babies that started turning some doctors and assistants against abortion.

I hear what you're saying. The pictures are extremely offensive. I do have to ask myself, "if the picture is offensive, what of the act depicted?" Is the violence of the act itself somehow mitigated if it remains hidden?
A proposed compromise: In places like New York City, Seattle, and San Francisco - the pictures are needed. People in places like that need to be shocked.
In other places, say, Texas, Missouri, Ohio, the pictures are inappropriate because a large number of people there are already aware of the violence of abortion.
Key point: If the mere picture is dispicable, what of the act depicted?

People need to see the truth, before long, your child will be exposed to pornography in sex-ed and family life in the schools. You should have approached the pro lifers out there when you had a chance after and expressed your opinions. You should thank them instead of criticizing them. The pics. were made to offend, that's the point! People need to see abortion and what it entails. Children are resilient and I bet your son already forgot the situation. He will see blood and guts when he starts playing video games, will see nudity in a few yrs. when he starts to channel surf on the TV. You can't shelter them from everything. The people at the corner probably need moral support and help. You should thank them and ask to join them. Abortion won't end until people start doing something.
You can't rely on politicians. So far they passed a pba ban that does not ban partial birth abortion. They fund planned parenthood every year and appropriate nothing to child pregnancy centers. The average citizen needs to get out there.

You're making the same value judgment the left makes - that you know what is best for his five year old child.
You don't. :)
