What they will do next is launch ICBMs over Japan and towards the US and say nothing. A form of terror whether they have the true capability or not. This would make the U.S. (Bush) appear very weak as we would continue to let him do so. Bush either gives the Chinese time to act or we must take them out or we do nothing.

Do new members to the nuclear club receive flowers or a fruit basket?A quick perusal of the Miss Manners Etiquette book indicates none of the above is appropriate. This event calls for one of those times when you care enough to send the VERY best. We should have a response from the DoD and a convening of our scared congresscritters within 48 hours.
I am betting on bilateral negotiations and a sloppy wet kiss apology.

Not so sure that Foley is off the headlines, Foley weakens Republicans, North Korean Nukes strengthens Republicans. Sin the MSM is in bed with the Extreme Left (Democratic Party) their inclination may well be to ignore the North Korean test until Fox News Rams it down their throats with hard evidence.

To: Lunatic Fringe

The crazy people in Beijing aren't nearly as crazy as the crazy people in Pyongyang. If they want to, they'd have my blessing...I'm sick of America having to be the one to clean up every mess in the world.

Drudge just reported it could be a bluff.Of course Drudge will not bet his country, life, and children on that.

I called my mother to tell her to turn on the TeeVee. She told me to call Bush and tell him to push the red button NOW. Smart woman!

I'd say China did this to keep the heat off of Iran U.S and Japan should report North Korea to the U.N at once
To: thoughtomator
Am I alone in thinking that the most likely result of this is a Chinese invasion of NK?
No, I've considered the very same thing as well. China stands to lose a great deal economically from the antics of Kim Jung Il for the reasons you stated. I don't know if it's likely, but it's not impossible that China might decide to replace Kimmie with someone they can control a little more easily.

They's still be talking about Foley even if Osama entered the White House.
For them, the real enemy are the Republicans and conservatives, and 9/11 was an illusion.

Personally I prefer a Foley or Monica story for 50 straight weeks over a nuclear North Korea

It wouldn't be possible for them to fake it with a few thousand tons of conventional explosive, would it?
