Had enough?
America has. Anyone who reads the polls accurately and honestly will acknowledge that the Republican Party is likely to lose control of the House of Representatives, the so-called "People's House." The Democrats maintained control for 40 years. The Republicans, just 12.
What went wrong? Why do Democrats finally appear to be heading toward electoral success and Republicans back into the political wilderness? In a word, fatigue. Americans are tired of the war, tired of watching illegal aliens race across our unguarded borders, tired of high energy costs, tired of wasteful Washington spending, and tired of story after story of political corruption and misbehavior.
As a pollster, my job is to tap the public mood. As a linguist, my efforts are focused on the words of the electorate and how best to communicate a set of priorities and principles. For the past three months, in focus groups literally from coast to coast and a dozen states in between I have heard the constant grumblings of Republicans that their party didn't do enough to follow through on their promises and the anger of Democrats who felt the G.O.P. went too far. Damned if you do. Damned if you don't.
And the language voters now use to describe Congress can only be heard after nasty divorce settlements and in the subways of New York. I've had voters spit on me as they emphasize the "d" in "do nothing" and the "c" in "corrupt."
Who can blame them? The Republican Party of 2006 is a tired, cranky shell of the aggressive, reformist movement that was swept into office in 1994 on a wave of positive change. I knew those Republicans. I worked for them. They were friends of mine. These Republicans are not those Republicans.

If you want change within the GOP, you do it within the primaries...
And forget about a House and Senate full of Conservatives; there aren't enough of arch conservatives out there...either to elect or in the electorate.
Lunts is a turncoat. Why should we listen to him?
Time...Leftie hack Rag mag Doing Dirty Deeds for Dems
Bookmarking so on election night to show that Frank Klutz(Luntz) was wrong again.
DITTO. GOP loss will be good because I predict the Dem cure will be worst as taxcut is rolled back, border fence funding dismantled, assault rifle ban reinstated with additions and haggling with GWB which will embolden the enemy to attack free Iraq and US troops. In the meantime a new crop of GOP candidates will emerge and hopefully veer back to the conservative course on spending, border, tax cuts and etc.
How can you read this article and think Lutz is out of the loop. Are you so blind that you cannot even read it with open eyes. Lutz is a pollster. he's telling you the same thing many of us have been telling you for years.
Get back to conservative values or pay a price.
The Foley scandal by itself, is not enough to do in the GOP. But the cumlative effect is. You are so blinded for power sake, that you cannot look at what has gotten us this point.
Are the democrats any better... H-NO. Far worse. Clean out this sorry GOP leadership and get back to basic's. The "new tone" experiment has failed.
If you never believed the MSM was the tool of the Rat party, you should now.
The desperation is really apparent on the part of the Dems when they have spent all year posting things like this here to split the base.
The depths of their agony when they do not win will be beyond measure, and as decent Americans we will not be allowed to gloat. All we can do it point to their policies and issue a COMMAND.
Change.
If the RATS take either house of Congress (which they won't) the next two years will be one long impeachment hearing. Unless you want to see Karl Rove and Rummy dragged before some committee every other week, work hard to keep Congress in GOP hands.
Neither of you know.....
And that's the real problem. Conservative republicans know where they stand. Had republicans not compromised away every conservative principle they have, we would be sure about the choice the people would make next month.
Since republicans repudiated conservatism (and even try to blame conservatives for their present demise) they are now on the receiving end of a donkey show.
There is only one month for republicans to "go conservative"
With Bush running his mouth about not even trying to deport illegal aliens this weekend, we can't use that.
Foley kinda makes social issues a bit of a stretch right now
The last 6 years of unrestrained government growth makes the constitutionalist angle tough to sell
Fiscally? well, there are always examples of stupid government spending to trot out. Not gonna be too convincing.
Tough on terror? Ok, maybe, but still North Korea nukes and looming Iranian nukes gives people pause.
Republicans, by not following conservative principles have painted themselves into a corner.
What is left is a contest of spending, and one in which we see which party can be more disingenuous than the other.
When politicians are left to do what politicians do best, spend and lie, It's anybody's ballgame.
If democrats win, it's the GOP that gets the blame, not conservatives.
You need only to look at the reasons of the GOP landslide in 94.
Slick Willie and Democrats so over reached that the American Public righted itself in 94.
AMEN AMEN AMEN AMEN AMEN AMEN!!!!!!!!
All we can do now is prepare for the coming storm. Impeachment proceedings to further weaken out country and embolden terrorists. Calls for immediate stop to terror surveillance. Calls for tax increases. Withdraw from Iraq. major and minor attacks within our borders.... and who will the Dems continue to blame... Why Bush of course...
Forget anything about border enforcement with Rats in control of Congress...
Right On!
