It's hard to be a man; hard to live up to the demands that come with the dominant conception of masculinity, of the tough guy.

Don't read it.
According to his website he's not just embarrassed about being a guy; he's all torn up about being white and American, too. Poor little thing.
It's just now we have someone to gossip with, discuss styles and go shopping with. I can just see my husband in a salon. I persuaded him to go into Victoria's Secret with me one time. Never again.
lISTENING to the radio today I heard a woman call in and whine like a baby because her husband wants to watch all the Bears games and doesn't want to go shopping with her.
I called in and asked "Are you incapable physically of going shopping by yourself? You enjoy shopping he enjoys football. Do you not have a car? If you don't perhaps before the game he can drop you off and pick you up afterwards"
They make fun of men because they bond over football. Well what's different from bonding over what women bond over?
AND FOR THE RECORD I AM A WOMAN (AND I LOVE FOOTBALL! Going to see the Bears in a few)
I'm betting folds.
Another for the record. Women whine about being football widows.
I say how about watch a game or two you might like it!
Or I say "Then go out and do something you enjoy during the game."
And for the record my husband is not a huge football fan but he will go to or watch the games with me.
This article made me cry!
*sniff*
I need a hug and a peck on the neck . . .
How to respond? Here's a masculine concept from a Navy guy...
Responsibility
It is a unique concept.
It can only reside and inhere in a single individual.
You may share it with others, but your portion is not diminished.
You may delegate it, but it is still with you.
You may disclaim it, but you cannot divest yourself of it.
Even if you do not recognize it, or admit its presence, you cannot escape it.
If responsibility is rightfully yours, no evasion or ignorance or passing the blame can shift the burden to someone else.
Unless you can point your finger at the man who is responsible when something goes wrong, then you have never had anyone really responsible.
H. G. RICKOVER
It hung in the refueling briefing room.
No its not
There, there. It will be ok? Want to go shopping? That will make you feel better.
This is a guy who feels guilt at being a man, subscribes to the concept of males as the agressive, oppressive, selfish, misogynistic looters of the world. He believes that there is no black and white in the world, that everything is a shade of gray. He believes fervently in moral and cultural relativism. This guy thinks that dialogue will solve EVERYTHING. He is against the ownership of guns, and believes in his heart that there is nothing a man can do physically that a woman cannot, and that anyone who thinks otherwise is a Neanderthal. He also thinks the root of the "Neanderthal's" problems come from the fact that he supresses his emotions.
Contrast that to this guy below:
This is a guy who believes that there is black and white in the world. He does not believe in moral and cultural relativism. He has seen that every culture does not have equal value, and that there ARE moral standards on a compass face. He understands the physical and mental differences between men and women, and he appreciates those changes and values women for who they are, and he treats them with respect. He calls men "Sir" and women "Ma'am". He opens doors for women and gives up his seat on the bus for them. He understands that there is evil in the world, dialogue does not work with some people, and there are reasons to have a gun in your hand. He likes being a man, and likes hanging around with men, doing "men" things (as some people would call them)
And, he is unapologetic about it.
There! Fixed it for you...:)
Will you buy me something?!
Wait, I know how to handle that. I just grab the most revealing item on the racks, and hold it out for one of the women shoppers, and say, "You're about my wife's size, would you just hold this up in front of your body and let me get an idea of how it'll look on her"
Time will stand still for a moment, but I'll never have to go in there again. In fact, they won't let me.
;-)
I recommend he have the operation and hormone shots, stain his skin brown, renounce his American citizenship and move to a Third World country. Then, and only then, will he feel better. Where do they find these people? Teaching in a university no less.
Hehe...I go into Victoria Secrets with my wife...I make a point of handling all the interesting merchandise, to the point my wife rolls her eyes and smacks me on the shoulder in a good natured way...:)
Yeah, I'll bet.
