But who in America even sees the cover of a Newsweek magazine, unless they have to visit a doctor or dentist this week?

I agree. While I adore Dubya in spite of some disappointments, IMO Cheney walks on water. My husband caught a show where Russert was interviewing Cheney, and made some crack about how he was glad Cheney hadn't brought along his hunting gun, he'd hate to get shot ...

Cheney's reply: "You're not in season."

GOD I love Cheney!

No flames and a great post.

I really enjoyed the show yesterday.  Your co-host really bugged me though by constantly talking about "Joe Scarsboro" and "Mitch Romney."  It's Scarborough (no "s" in the middle) and Mitt (no "ch") Romeny!  That was so distracting from the points he was trying to make.

I jumped up and pumped my hand when you got onto the "it's the primaries" notion towards the end of the show.  The time to make a difference is when we can get conservative Republicans (or Democrats) in as the condidates, not when we're forced to choose between RINOs and Dhimmicrats.  I'll always choose the RINO (...well, not in the case of Chafee or McClame, I guess) over the Dhimmicrat, but I want to have a different choice, and that argument starts November 8th of this year.

I have to tell you I'm not willing to climb on the "Hastert should have known" bandwagon yet.  There has been too much "evidence" that has later been contradicted for me to be willing to accept any source as definitive.  I'm checking with lots of sources, both public and private, and will form my judgement accordingly.  I will say that my usual contrary nature kicks in when both Nancy Pelosi and Pat Buchannan want Hastert's scalp.  Talk about an unholy alliance!

Varney was the host of the show when it was on CNBC back when, and when it was on for a full hour.

#### One of the best shows of the week. I really looked forward to all of the commentators.

True. We have a number of teachers who claim they are Republicans; but based on comments and questions, they always sound more like Democrats than Republicans.

Cronyn, or Cornyn? Office of Senator John Cornyn.

Or is it someone else?

Actually- I do have the ability to reach others about them taking back the GOP in their districts...

We ALL do it- everyday here on FR....

I also have the unique opportunity to post on Control Congress.com and to be on the airwaves... not to mention blogging...

I cannot force anyone to do anything-- no doubt...

But I can certainly be involved in the GOP and due to being such an internet nerd, and the avenues to reach others- they know I can help inspire others who are frustrated to call on the GOP for change.

ALso-- I ran into a lady from this organization:

http://www.americansforprosperity.org/

Check it out...

They are TREMENDOUS! After the election we will be having them on the show....I was VERY impressed with the goals and the actions of their group....they REALLY have a plan- and they KNOW how to effect change and do REAL grass roots lobbying besides calling and screaming over the phone...

It is amazing.. within the last month- doors have truly opened for me to find better ways to be truly effective -- not just posting and blogging....

I am not happy with the way the GOP is doing things...so I will do all I can to change it....

We all really are still hurting here,we lost someone we really cared for and liked along with all his long time employees that were just the Best at what they did.

He's going to need friends when this all settles out.  Whatever his issues and whatever he's done.  Think of how the Amish forgave the murderer of their children and embraced his family and prayed for him.  So far with Foley we don't have any proof of anything beyond being gay and bad judgement.  All of the overt "icky stuff" appears to have been held for after these people were adults and were already open about their own sexuality.

Hate the sin, love the sinner.

So I will defer to the testimony of my fellow FReepers.

RE Laura Ingraham and your search for context of her comments this past week. There is a live thread here every day during her show, so if you are interested in following the timeline you could browse those threads. You will read that Freepers who enjoy her show enough to get online to chat with other Freepers also enjoying her show, were shocked and dismayed at her strong attack on Dennis Hastert. It was reminiscent of her vehemence on Harriet Miers and the Dubai Ports Deal.

Today's comments by her are a 180 degree reversal of her comments last week.

ROFLL!!!

I know what you mean! On all those points!

Poor John-- he is a brillian guy-- mostly with numbers...

kinda like those book smart people vs common sense...

His "sources" bother me too! LOL! When He said Mitch- I about died! He also referred to Pat Buchannon and Joe...as you point out... UGH!

As we get more comfortable together- you will begin to see us actually argue and debate each other.. this is where we both want to eventually go... the funny thing is that regardless of how different we are- we have a chemistry that is really weird. We actually like each other.. and have a lot of fun- laughing, debating, etc- over the phone...

I am hoping to really use the FREEPers to help call him on his sources-- and challenge him.... Just as he challenges me-- and he does...but we both like being challenges on things and don't get mad...he is more patient to listen than I am though- LOL! I have to give him that...

I understand totally about waiting for more facts.....

I'm happy you are involved and can do more.

I still maintain change comes from within easier and faster than from the outside. The GOP is a big party with many groups that are well meaning and great, but the Republican Party remains the core vehicle for change and influence.

By the way, great leadership on the Americans for Prosperity group. I hope they do well and influence the GOP. I wonder what their leadership would say to you about not voting?  I cannot imagine David Koch or Walter Williams agreeing with you.

You might also like the Independence Institute, http://www.i2i.org.  Tom Tancredo is their past director.

Oops, I must have misunderstood this. I know I am going to get flamed for this.  I thought you were saying you would not vote this time but continue to work for our winning in the future.

so let me just point out that I WILL be voting, and I WILL be voting Republican....but once this election is over

That's strange. You have to click on the "full image" to see anything about Foley. "Responding to questions later, Cornyn denounced the behavior of former Florida Congressman Mark Foley, who resigned after his improper correspondence with a House page was revealed."
