Marijuana Delays Alzheimer’s, Alters Cause of Symptoms

A new study shows that the active ingredient in marijuana may preserve a crucial neurotransmitter, and so stave off the effects of Alzheimer’s disease, according to scientists at the VW Microbus Institute for Herbal Research.

Those afflicted with Alzheimer’s suffer from memory loss, impaired decision-making, and diminished language and movement skills.

The study showed that when an Alzheimer’s patient smokes pot, the active ingredient preserves the neurotransmitter and blocks clumps of protein that can inhibit memory and cognition.

“The dope smoking Alzheimer’s patient still suffers from memory loss, impaired decision-making, and diminished language and movement skills,” according to one unnamed scientist, “but it’s no longer a terrible disease that’s causing the symptoms, so you don’t have that stigma of being a victim.”

So, first it causes the loss of short term memory, but it delays Alzheimer's? I thought it was just for glaucoma...

Hey, this headline rated a 30 second news report last nite on our local Fox news. Rest of this article pretty well paralleled my thoughts.

When everyone's name is "Hey Dude" and all you want for breakfast, lunch or dinner is more chocolate bars, I guess you could refer to that as an improvement, Dude.

Sorry, not funny. My mother died in May of this year due to this horrible disease. It's not fun or funny to watch or cope with.

That was my reaction also. Of course they also reported on the Presidential IQ list when it came out, so, I would say our local news staff is considerably influenced by shinny stories(they still are heads and shoulders above the other local news).
