Photo shows the area in which Opportunity landed, the track outlined path it took over two years to negotiate 6 miles of desert to Victoria Crater
Victoria Crater.
The Mars-orbiting NASA satellite took a picture as it
passed Victoria Crater and actually captured the Rover
sitting on the edge of the crater.........A blow-up of
the satellite photo showing Opportunity sitting on the crater's rim
False color looking North to Cape Verde; great rock layers to explore.
Looking Southeast across Duck Bay.

I'm jacked!US engineering at its best! Rover Opportunity has spent 2 years crossing a lot of barren desert-like territory to get over here. Its amazing its been able to keep on truckin'. I hope they get some nice data from this area.

I thought these rovers were only supposed to last 3 months....wow.

Wow! We have a satellite orbiting Mars that can photograph a little remote controlled rover.
That should scare our enemies.
Wait, I'm sure the Democrats will complain NASA is invading the privacy of the rover.

The largest photo of the whole crater is amazing. You can clearly see the direction the prevailing winds blow, and the dunes on the floor of the crater are spectacular. I'd love to have a huge blowup of that photo.

OVERdelivered....?! Huh? Another government program that refuses to die...
At least they're actually learning something.
To: F.J. Mitchell
Ripples in center of crater are huge "Sand Dunes". I guess a lot of loose dirt has been blown into the crater over the years and has collected as dunes.
