Dems Object To Freeh Leading Probe (Pelosi Galore Alert) (Foley)

Pelosi: Former FBI Director Wrong Man To Lead Page Program Investigation

(AP) House Speaker Dennis Hastert said Thursday he is looking for a high-caliber figure to step in and fix flaws in the congressional page program that left the teenagers vulnerable to sexual advances.

Hastert was on the verge of naming former FBI Director Louis Freeh, who boasts a long, high-profile career in law enforcement, for the post. But the speaker held off because of objections from Democrats.

Hastert had called House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi on Thursday to notify her that he intended to hire Freeh to overhaul the program, their aides said. But Pelosi suggested it was too soon to make decisions about changing the program, and that Freeh might be the wrong man for the job.

“That's about public relations for the Republican leaders, it's not about protecting the children,” Pelosi, D-Calif., said in an interview with The Associated Press. “It smacks of 'blame the victim.'"

I thought the Republicans were still a majority.
I to have thought the same thing but, for the past six yrs. the dems have pretty well had everything their way.

There has not been very much fight in the present GOP leadership.
When we elected so many moderates into the GOP was when it began to crumble.

The thing is, I would respect the Marxists more if they came out and said it rather then being cowards and hiding.

That's why I respect Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. I despise their ideology but at least they are not afraid to admit it.

The Democrats should just come out and say they are the opposition party. Let Americans decide if the opposition party should be in office.

I wouldn't agree with Nancy Pelosi if she said the sun rises in the east. However, the choice of Louis Freeh was another klutz move by the ham-handed GOP.

The resignation in 2001 of the self-promoting and politically-malleable Freeh was one of the best things that ever happened in the history of of the FBI.

Just fer starters, it was during Freeh's watch that the 900 FBI files were handed on a silver platter to Bubba and Her Heinous.

When Hastert announced Freeh's name on TV yesterday, I actually LOL'd....and then started shaking my head.

The only thing Freeh has going for him with non-thinking conservatives is that he had a falling-out with Clinton. This kills his "neutrality" thing right off the bat.

It's okay that Hastert is pushing for a Clinton-hater, but wouldn't it have been a little more subtle to choose one that's still in the closet.....so to speak?

Looks like Pelosi is scared sh!tless about an investigation, especially if it's done right.

Sure looks that way. I would imagine that bug-eyed hippie has a lot of skeletons in her closet.....come out, come out where ever you are!

Representative Hoekstra (R-MI) just mentioned Pelosi's blackball of Freeh on Fox and Friends. He said House leadership acted swiftly and forcefully resulting in FORMER Representative Foley within hours of the explicit IMs being made public.

Hoekstra wants investigation ASAP.

No kidding -- the Dems are determined to keep any "investigation" centered exclusively on Foley. I can't imagine that there aren't Dem Congressmen who went after pages -- male or female.

since it only makes them look like they can be had.

Um, they've proved time and again they can be had -- Charlie Brown and the football.

I didn't catch it -- does he want Freeh? I'm assuming he wants a full investigation -- not just of Foley -- did he say?

We all know what happens to conservatives that fight tough. Gingrich was on the cover of Time and was called the 'Grinch that stole Xmas'. Look what they have done to Rush. The way you deal with this is you stop caring what they think. Why in the world are we even listening to them concerning proper sexual behavior ? The way you see the dimwitted socialist behaving in D.C., is the same way they are actually behaving in real life. Just drop them. They are a minority and they are not worth the Time.

Hastert needs to tell her to STFU and let the adults handle this, and he needs to do it TODAY! ---

His comments indicated Speaker Hastert was swiftly moving forward with a full investigation, but Pelosi nixed Freeh to head it.

My impression was that he was okay with Freeh AND supports Hastert.

The Republicns are wimps, and they won't fight back. That's why they're going to lose in November. It just makes me sick to watch this.
