ALAN COLMES, CO-HOST: Members of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, have been protesting at military funerals since June of last year carrying signs with anti-gay slogans. Yesterday, they announced they were planning to protest the funerals of the Amish schoolgirls shot to death to death in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, earlier this week, but they have since changed their plans.
With us now from Westboro Baptist Church is Shirley Phelps-Roper.
You changed your plans because Mike Gallagher has offered you airtime on his radio show, because you want to get your message out. What is that message?
SHIRLEY PHELPS-ROPER, WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH: The message is that God has put a standard in the earth. He expects his creatures to obey it. If you obey, he'll bless you. If you don't, he'll curse you. America has sent away her day of grace. America is doomed.--snip--
COLMES: Did those girls deserve to be killed?
PHELPS-ROPER: Well, they did get killed, and they did that. Who controls the hearts of men? It was at the hand of an angry God those girls are dead.
COLMES: Did they deserve to die?
PHELPS-ROPER: They did deserve to die.--snip--
SEAN HANNITY, CO-HOST: Shirley, you really are a sick woman. You are a sick...
PHELPS-ROPER: Slight cold but thank you.
HANNITY: ...twisted human being. Where is your soul that you come on the air and as young innocent girls are going to die and you're going to you're going to open up the family's wound and pour salt on it? Where is your heart? Where is your soul? Where's your compassion? Where's your love?
PHELPS-ROPER: Our message is for the living, and that is the only loving thing to do.
HANNITY: What about the living families that lost their daughter?
PHELPS-ROPER: They did that to themselves.--snip--

In that thread, I will be leading the conga line in celebrating their death(s). Volunteers are needed to provide Caribbean music and cocktails.
Those of you goody two-shoes Freepers who pray for the souls of the wicked are advised to keep your asses out of that thread. You will not be welcomed or treated kindly as we celebrate and mock the anguish of the Phelps family. Don't make me tell you twice. Do you understand?
The Amish would just bring them sandwiches and lemonade and pray for their immortal souls, sincerely.
. . oh, and also a Shoo-Fly pie as well . .
Punished for what?! Minding their own business? Leading decent lives? Teaching their children good things? Not embracing deviancy? The Amish are one of the few groups that I truly admire. They are wonderful human beings from what I've read, heard and seen.
At least they don't riot and burn and threaten to kill people for disagreeing with them.
Good grief, you give us Christians a bad name!
Lord have mercy on us!
And you folks think the Muslims are radical....well I listen to these "persons", and it made my skin crawl...you have come a long way baby; but you are not there yet...
"Why do they put these people on tv? Everyone should just ignore them."
They get so much publicity because the MSM knows people will think they are true Christians. And you know that Christianity in this country is as much a threat as Muslim terrorists. Rosie said so.
I think that goes without saying.
You are right. The same thing with the "Church of God." Many wierdo groups have taken the name but they are not affliated with nor sponsered by the home church in Cleveland Tennessee.
While they can use "Baptist" isn't it true you have a special Church logo/symbol that they can't use?
"Inbreeding? Psychosis? Drug Use?
Channeling the ghost of Jim Jones?"
A "church" made up mostly of family members.
Dad had a large family - there may be some siblings involved.
So you have some of his kids (a few have left this craziness and are now ostracized) and grandkids.
I haven't read that there are many members outside of the family.
Daddy comes off as seriously mentally ill.
Yes.
Look at the two groups. The Amish and the Westboro Freaks. Where do you see Jesus?
"Punished for what?! Minding their own business? Leading decent lives? Teaching their children good things? Not embracing deviancy? The Amish are one of the few groups that I truly admire. They are wonderful human beings from what I've read, heard and seen. "
They can't get their story straight.
When I first heard on the radio they planned on protesting the funerals, it was reported it had something to do with Gov. Rendell that God was punishing them for.
Now this woman seems to be saying that simple faithful christians are being targeted by an angry God...for what?
There is serious mental illness being passed around in that family.
ROTFL!!!!!
Truth and Levity in one post.
Well Done!
i am a christian and this woman is a wacko the amish people are probably more closer to god than she is. what a ding bat
Don't put this woman on the air again.
That is without a doubt one of the most asinine statements that I have ever heard.
Why does the media give these crackpots creditability by putting them on the air?
What they aren't is any religion that believes in God. They certainly aren't Christian, Because Christians believe God gave his only son to die for our sins. So it is not up them to judge. The only thing they are is TERROISTS. They agree with the terrosits so they should be arrested as terroists. They are American so that makes them traitors.
Every family should sue, maybe if enough law suits are thrown at them the tide will turn. Yes its ashame the media gives them the notority, but thats freedom of speech. Everyone needs to band together and form larger groups to protect the families from these evil people at funerals and when they go to the ariports to protest when a soldier's body arrives. Yes they do that too.
Yet somebody is funding them. Gallagher pointed out that they have plenty of money, the two sisters are lawyers. And they sure want publicity.
