CLAIM: FILTHY FOLEY ONLINE MESSAGES WERE PAGE PRANK GONE AWRY
**World Exclusive**
**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**

According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.

According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.

The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.

The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.

The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

Hasert could have forced Foley to retire, stripped him of his committee position, etc. There were a lot of things Hasert could have done.

"Soros did not even pretend to address that and Neil just let him off the hook. I am disgusted."

Neil's lack of follow-up on that issue was disappointing, but he did present material that put Soros on defense. The discussion about taxes and quotes from Bill O'Reilly's book brought animated responses.

I think Foley, like a lot of politicians on both sides of the aisle is what, in abnormal psychology, is sometimes called a "functional psychopath." Bill Clinton is a classic example. Unlike criminal psychopaths, functional psychopaths are slick and disciplined enough to mask their symptoms and avoid most major problems with the law. They are very dangerous and destructive once they get inside a corporation, government or political party. Their prime motivation is power. I believe Foley has been a scandal waiting to happen for a long time. There may be a number of skeletons in his closet that would have come out even if this incident is a "prank." Already there are other pages making accusations though they have no hard evidence.

Granted, it appears that the "kid" was over 18 when the nasty IMs were sent, but Foley didn't know that.

Yes, he did, the "kid" mentioned his birthday in one of the IMs.

Whoa nellie...

A thread of this size moves fast and DOES appropriately- sometimes wander a bit. George Soros is TOPICAL and he was ASKED specifically by Neil Cavuto about Foley's Follies.

Hijacking the thread would have been trying to find a way to turn it into an illegal immigration discussion.

Referencing Soros interview was apt and timely.

They are also saying then "Why did Foley Resign and Hasert take the blame".

Those people could not think their way out of a wet paper bag.

Which is a brilliant example of what Rush was talking about when he referred to the Democrat party as a stopped up sewer.

Nancy Pelosi sure is refusing a LOT and so far, getting away with it..

IF the story is true that Hastert backed off having Freeh do the investigation because SHE said NO....

And if she did say NO....why???

Why would she refuse to testify under oath or sign an affidavit??

I think any reporter worth his/her credentials BETTER get those answers..

Because all the way back to Nixon, the reps have been MORE than willing to toss their own to the wolves, while the wolves (demonRATS) tell us "IT'S CONSENSUAL, BABY".

This man's life has been destroyed and (as icky as I consider older men and younger guys) it has been over NOTHING. IF Foley had actually acted on anything, it would have been 4 inches high, above the fold, at the NYT.

Quite true, and I don't dislike him. However, knowing his background helps understand why he can do a good interview, but not a great interview, with certain people. That way you aren't having excessively high expectations.

I doubt more than a handful of reporters on Fox are conservative. It's just that they report on the conservative side of things as well as the liberal.

This is just another example of the dems running off half cocked in their zeal to attack, that they don't bother with checking the facts.
Highlights these imbeciles for what they are. Incapable of being taken seriously!!

Power is the way a "functional sociopath" (I prefer sociopath to psychopath) insulates him or herself from suffering the consequences of their behavior. I don't know why Deb Lafave comes to mind all of a sudden.

Messing with kids is these people's downfall... Clinton, Lafave, Foley. They're unpredictable. That's why they call them jailbait even, in these cases, when they're legally of age.

I am not talking about the IM's; I am talking about the "overtly" friendly e-mails. That was a 16 year old child.

If Drudge is wrong, isn't it safe to say he will be lynched by us FReepers?

Ever since this has come out I have felt sorry for Mark Foley.

You felt sorry for a pedophile?? Because even if he didn't *do the deed*, he was gearing up for an encounter with this page. He'd already invited either this page or another to his hotel room (according to one of the transcripts). And I don't care if the page was of legal age or not; he was still a teenager. Would you like your 18-year-old teenager to be having sex with a 52 year old man?

Now Nancy Pelosi is ready to take the 5th over when she had the instant messages.

OMG! She said that?

If the Republicans were smart, they'd hold a major news conference with hundreds of the congresscritters in front of the capitol with a bulletin board and these bullet points:

1) The former page no longer worked for Congress when the IM's were written.

2) The former page wasn't 16 when the IM's were written but was 18 which is the sexual age of consent.

3) The former page has a blog which says when the FBI investigates they'll find that he instigated the advances to Foley, not the other way around.

4) Neither Reid nor Pelosi will sign an affidavit stating when they first knew about this matter. (Makes one wonder why not).

5) Pelosi objects to Clinton's FBI Director Freeh serving as chief investigator into this matter. (So he was capable of running the entire FBI but can't run this puny, made up "scandal"?)

Just remember how gleeful DU was about the Bush TANG memos -- for about 12 hours, until they were revealed as fake by FR and LGF.
