CLAIM: FILTHY FOLEY ONLINE MESSAGES WERE PAGE PRANK GONE AWRY
**World Exclusive**
**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**
According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the matter.
The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

Drudge has been wrong before. Remember Kerry's secret love affair?? Drudge AND Rush did a hasty retreat from that juicy item.
It sounds to me like he was being set up by the pages, thus the "prank." He probably believed it was all real. In other words, he still should have stepped down, but his "victims" were hardly innocent.
Well, I'm waiting for ABC to note they have other, less-lurid IMs from OTHER pages so the story is still accurate.
Unless this itself isn't true. Drudge is pretty good, but he has made mistakes before.
It would explain why Edmund has a lawyer.
If this turns out to be true... HOLY SNOT!
Was it a prank in that the IM's recordings were fake? Or was it a prank in that the page's were trolling for fags and Foley was, more or less, a victim?

Apparently they did do the IMs with Foley knowing he was a gay who liked young males, but they apparently were doing it and laughing at the comments they were able to get Foley to make. Kind of like a modern-day prank call, "Hello, is your refrigerator running?" only with a perverted twist.

Democrats and other misguided Dumbs#%ts hardest hit.
I could see my son and his friends sitting around thinking it would be funny to "egg on" the gay.
I am not passing judgment about it "falling into the wrong hands", but it does sound plausible. Straight guys in their late teens do think that homosexuality is funny, and whether we want them to or not, they do tease, or joke around about it. These kids probably thought it was their own private joke, but the motives of it getting into the wrong hands are up for discussion. Kids, at that age, do not think of the long term consequences of their fun play. Who knows, they were probably drinking, and decided to do something stupid.
It is my guess that, if it is true that this was a hoax, Foley did not know it and responded with salacious e-mail. So he had to resign because of what he wrote, not what he received.
Pop some corn and settle down in a comfy chair, folks. Things are going to get very interestings now.
OMG OMG OMG!!!! Please let this be true!
hang on, I'll type up some IM logs as proof and send them right over....
No, the Foley half of these "conversations" is genuine.
It was an October surprise...for Democrats and the media!!!
LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!
Louis be good.
Either a prank or blackmail.
