Foley scandal focus of Wetterling campaign (Minn House Race)
KSTP-TV (ABC Affiliate In Mpls-St Paul) ^ | 10/05/06 | AP News Story

Locked in a hard-fought race in a GOP-leaning district, Democrat Patty Wetterling took to the TV airwaves Tuesday to urge immediate expulsions of members of Congress who knew about or were involved in inappropriate contact with underage pages.

The stark black-and-white ad plays on Wetterling's strongest political asset - her national reputation as a fighter for child protection. Her son Jacob vanished 17 years ago after a masked gunman abducted him on a lonely rural road, prompting her evolution as an advocate.

"It shocks the conscience," a male voice says as headlines from the page scandal flash on screen.

I've seen this ad on TV and trust me folks, it's aimed at the unthinking masses. It tells 'em that Patty Wetterling is a take-charge individual who'll demands that Congress get tough on the perverts.

The only thing is that Foley has not molested any children. At least so far, the record shows he has not. This ad makes an accusation that (so far) is not true.

As you'll read, Wetterling is trying anything to pump up her campaign these days. I hope it fails terribly.

I am betting if people knew they were Democrats.

What the ad tells me is that democrats will sink to deapths unknown and exploit any personal tradgedy as long as it will win them an election. Why don't we just elect Oprah as Queen and ruler of all and get it over with?

The MN GOP ought do some research if Hatch and Amy K. showed any leniency toward child abusers.

This stunt just cheapens the memory of her son, IMHO. It is public knowledge (#99) that she was chosen by the Dems to tackle this issue because of her son's disappearance, it is their MO to push forward people that can't be ridiculed.

That is going way far out on a limb unless she thinks someone is about to put the brakes on an investigation because a thorough investigation is going to turn up more than one problem....and with more than one party.

I liked Dean Barnett's take:

Once again we get an unhindered view of the Democrats’ campaign philosophy: Offer pure bile, unconstrained by any fidelity to available facts. As has so often been the case in recent history, the last days of a campaign season are revealing the true face of the Democratic Party. It ain’t pretty.

Maybe Wetterling should first clean her own filthy house before critizing others. Barney Frank had a prostitution ring of teen age boys in his own house!

Foley's pages weren't underage. We should bring Clinton into the argument.

We can't prove Frank knew about the prostitution ring. We can prove he hired a prostitute, by his own words. Someone should have thrown him in jail for that.

Just like the 9/11 widows, Max Cleland, Cindy Sheehan and other Dims/liberals who exploit their tragedies for political gain. This woman is no different.

Unfortunately, she'll probably win this seat, because ads like these reasonate with women who sit around watching "The View".
