Cpl. Gentile's Story:
In April 2004, six days after his 21st birthday, CPL. Gentile, USMC received a gun shot wound to his right neck when his squad was ambushed in Ramadi. This caused extensive injuries to the right side of his face; and loss of visual acuity in his right eye.
Since the incident, this young Marine has undergone continuous staged reconstructive surgeries on his face nearly 20 with more to come in the days and months ahead. In July 2006, he was medically retired by the Marine Corp.
His family lives in Kansas, and his surgeries will be in San Diego. Fortunately, he has an extended family in Bakersfield.
In spite of these challenges, this proud Marine is taking on-line courses in between his surgeries to pursue a college degree. Simply put, he is marching forward with his life. However, he does need help until such time he can find gainful employment to supplement his disability and educational benefits; which unfortunately will only be paid to him at 50% of the normal rate.
Orange County and North San Diego pings needed ... Troop Support time...
SoCal ping

Oh bummer, I'm attending a seminar that afternoon!
I just published this to the locals in Ladera Ranch on our community website. I'll be out of town, but hope we can get some good turnout.
I can't attend, but will send a check to America Supports You, with the notation that it's for this function for Cpl. Gentile. Prayers for his speedy recovery, and for his courageous family.
