A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Woodward: Black chick brushes off 9/11 warning;
Jew advising Bush on wars

by JohnHuang2

You know things are going swimmingly for Democrats in the home stretch when Exhibit A in their case that their party's really tough on terror is that a WAPO reporter -- Bob Woodward -- doesn't like Rummy. Unlike his first two books on Bush, Bush at War and Plan of Attack, which critics criticized as semi-laudatory of Bu$HalliburtoNazi, State of Denial, the latest book to crawl out of the Woodward, presents very compelling evidence that Woodward misses getting boot-licked by the cocktail set.

I have it on good authority that the main reasons for this book are (a) to sell books and (b) to thwart the sneaky warmonger's push to keep voters focused on the threat of terrorism by Muslim barbarians. The book refocuses attention back on Iraq, with its ongoing terrorism by Muslim barbarians.

Woodward's book has libbies so excited that John Kerry was in Iowa citing Woodward chapter and verse as 'proof' Bush 'lied' about Iraq. "With the new facts we now have available," said horseface, "I think Americans are going to be realizing that this is the Katrina of foreign policy." Horseface used the issue of Iraq to catapult himself to first place in the '04 Iowa caucuses, riding Iraq all the way to getting decisively defeated that November. Kerry is mulling getting decisively defeated again in '08.

Woodward claims in his book that Bush is keeping a shocking secret from the American people: That Iraq is a tough go. And that there are 800 weekly attacks in Iraq on our troops (the figure is probably closer to 3,000 weekly attacks, if you add what Pelosi and Murtha are saying.)

This "secret" level of violence is so secret, the Brookings Institute has it posted on its Website (Hat tip: Instapundit.) Has done so for a long time. The Pentagon publishes the same weekly number -- 800 attacks per week, once every 15 minutes -- but, dig a little deeper, and you'll see the figure includes attacks on Iraqi civilians and Iraqi police. Woodward attempts to mislead the American people by lumping them all together as 'attacks against U.S. troops' and claiming it's all being hidden. I call on Woodward to resign.

Based mostly on the infallible grumbling of disgruntled former hot shots, the book is getting lots of publicity in the media, even in the New York Times, but that's just the New York Times trying to balance its usual lovey-dovey pro-Bush bias.

In State of Denial, Woodward asserts that Bush is a president not solidly in command, that he doesn't run a very tight ship and that his team is riven by divisions. Woodward also stands behind the key points in his first two books, which were: Bush is solidly in command, runs a tight ship with a united team. Woodward was for Bush before he was against him.

Woodward implies there are many similarities between the Vietnam War and the war in Iraq. There's fighting going on, for one. Henry Kissinger is a regular adviser to Bush, for another. Woodward probably learned of this by exhuming Bill Casey's corpse and having a seance in some dark parking garage.

Woodward also claims First Lady Laura Bush tried to get the boss to fire Rummy. Immersing in the minutiae of Defense policy and picking Pentagon chiefs -- it's something traditional First Ladies always do.

According to Woodward, the NSC's head honcho on Iraq, Robert D. Blackwill, issued a warning in the fall of '03 that thousands of additional ground troops were needed in Iraq to lick the "insurgency." Which is silly. As libbies point out, having U.S. troops in Iraq creates more terrorists, so what we need to do is to "redeploy" to Okinawa so "terrorists" can go back to playing tennis and Iraq can be hunky-dory again. But, no, it's Bush in "denial."

Then there's Woodward's account of a pre-9/11 meeting at the White House between George Tenet, then CYA director, Cofer Black, Tenet's counterterrorism honcho and Condoleezza Rice, then NSA adviser. "Black laid out the case," writes Woodward, consisting of a "mass of fragments and dots," which really narrowed things down. It was a "mass of dots" and "mass of fragments" so compelling that Tenet decided to have sleepless nights over these "dots" and "fragments."

"There was no conclusive, smoking gun intelligence," Woodward admits, but there was this "huge volume" of . . . "noise" in the intel systems. "He did not know when, where or how, but Tenet felt there was too much noise in the intelligence systems . . . Black acknowledged that some of it was uncertain 'voodoo' but said it was often this voodoo that was the best indicator." Tenet and Black "hoped to convey the depth of their anxiety and get Rice to kick-start the government into immediate action." The meeting probably went something like this:

GEORGE TENET: Good evening, Madam President. Very nice to see you.

RICE: Why, thank you. Nice to see you, too, George. And you, Cofer.

BLACK: Same here!

RICE: Sooooooooo, what's the deal?

BLACK: Ok, Madam President, here's the thing. George is hearing voices in the intel systems -- "noise" is what we call it. There's this mass of indecipherable dots and fragments with no smoking gun, no hard evidence, nothing conclusive, just a lot of uncertain voodoo and we don't know when, how or what -- so could you please hit the panic button and kick-start the government immediately?!?! This is A DIRE EMERGENCY!

RICE: Anything more specific than that?

BLACK: Oh, yes -- George can't sleep at night. These voices keep him awake.

RICE: Hmmm, George, pardon my saying so, but you do look somewhat disheveled, even more than usual.

Woodward wrote that "Tenet and Black felt they were not getting through to Rice. She was polite, but they felt the brush-off." Despite all the voodoo and Tenet's vibes, Rice takes "no immediate action," thus 9/11 happened. It was all the black chick's fault. This meeting was so seared in Tenet's mind, that he forgot to mention it to the 9/11 Commission. Same for his crony. Nothing in the report about it.

Beyond all this load of CYA from disgruntled losers, the larger effort here could be to thwart Condi's possible run in '08 against thunder thighs. If you're a Clinton toadie, the thought of Condi running leaves you numb with fear. I know this because someone called Deep Throat just told me.

Anyway, that's...

My two cents

Doing What We Can

READ: 1 Corinthians 3:5-15

He who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward. —1 Corinthians 3:8

Sometimes we may get discouraged because what we're doing for the Lord seems unsuccessful. The children in the Sunday school class we teach are restless and inattentive. The neighbors we're trying to reach with the gospel are politely indifferent. The members of our own family are far from the Lord. The world we lift up to God in fervent intercession grows increasingly violent and anti-Christian. All of this can add up to deep soul-discouragement.

Listen to the words of a Salvadoran clergyman who was murdered for his fearless denunciation of violence and injustice. He wrote: "We plant the seeds that one day will grow. We water seeds already planted, knowing that they hold future promise. We lay foundations that will need further development. . . . We cannot do everything, and there's a sense of liberation in realizing that." This attitude helps us to do small things and to leave "an opportunity for the Lord's grace to enter and do the rest."

That agrees with the apostle Paul's encouragement to be faithful in our tasks and to wait on God who "gives the increase" (1 Cor. 3:6-7).

Don't allow discouragement to cause you to quit. In God's own time our work will bear fruit. Vernon C Grounds -->

Go, labor on, spend, and be spent,
Thy joy to do Thy Father's will;
It is the way the Master went;
Should not the servant tread it still?  —Bonar

You are a success in God's kingdom if you are faithful where He has placed you.
