Anyone and everyone — Republican or Democrat – who is involved in the effort on Capitol Hill to purge gay Republican staffers using “The List” needs to cease this outing witchhunt immediately.
Please call the Capitol Hill offices of House Speaker Hastert, Senate Majority Leader Frist as well as House Minority Leader Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid.
Demand that they issue a statement calling on all House and Senate Members and their staff to stop this outing campaign immediately.
This type of behavior is un-American. If the Human Rights Campaign, Log Cabin Republicans or the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force won’t stand up to this witchhunt atmosphere, then we sure will here.

Imagine that you are single and NO ONE will date you because of your politics. Imagine that every restaurant and watering hole refuses to serve you, and that when you enter a gathering people turn their backs on you. Furthermore, imagine that you constantly receive threats and hate mail.
Now imagine that you are gay but keep your lifestyle private, maybe because of your job, maybe because of your parents, whatever. Those folks have the additional threat of blackmail hanging over them.
I wonder how many of the gay Republicans have been threatened?
Howlin, remember how Andrew Sullivan went bonkers and started attacking Bush? And look at what happened to Mary Cheney!
An old pal of mine has spent years defending a marine who had "relations" with an older gay male in San Francisco. Later, the older gay male was found dead. The marine, last I heard, is still in jail, despite the lack of evidence directly linking him to the crime.
The social pressure conservative gays receive is horrid.
Bless you for wondering what kind of pressures gay conservatives receive at the hands of their abusers. All that you have written and wondered, is exactly how it plays out. Plus they have to deal with "sneak" attacks -- Dem gays courting conservative gays, pretending to also be "conservative", but then compiling incriminating data against the conservative gay. If there was a "D" by Foley's name the MSM would debate the issue for hours, and after much hand wringing, decided it's not a story. Put the "R" next to the name and the debate is much shorter and the results are in front of us... The only conflicting swing?
The MSM gives passes to gays - and not passes to Republicans - so some members would sit on this -- but in the end, the "R" trumps all -- And yeah, don't count on seeing the same about a democrat - even if every member of the MSM knows the story and the stroy is much worse. Dem gays get total passes -- they could have hookers working out of their basements and they'd get a pass. Anything and everything. Ever see a negative story about a gay liberal? Ever?
Or just settle on closing their eyes and farting.
Sounds like the gay constituency (primarily dem, I assume) is starting to wake up to the reality, which is that the dems don't give a damn about them anymore than they do about minorities, women, and children. All are just tools in the dem's political toolbox, to be used to further their own political careers.
