In a busy day of campaigning today, President Bush made two fundraising appearances starting with a reception for Representative Rick Renzi in Scottsdale, Arizona where he also signed H.R. 5441 - the Homeland Security Appropriations Act funding the border fence - and then a reception for Colorado gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez in Englewood, Colorado. In his speeches he emphasized the importance of electing Republicans in the interest of our nation's security and strength.
Also today First Lady Laura appeared at two Republican fundraisers, one for Representative Curt Weldon in Springfield, Pennsylvania, and later for Representative Tom Reynolds in Amherst, New York and was interviewed on a youth radio station in Buffalo and attended a mock trial.
In addition, the Bush economy achieved new heights today as the Dow closed at 11,850...........the highest in history!
Today we are doing a special tribute, not only to our great President, but also to our friend and fellow Freeper, Tony Snow. If you'd like to contribute comments, we welcome your input, but we ask that all comments remain positive toward both the President and Tony to keep this our 'Sanity Island.'
This is for you, Tony...............you are a perfect compliment to the President whom we deeply respect and admire. You are a Godly man - witty, intelligent and combative in a gentlemanly sort of way, just as he is, and have proven to be the perfect spokesman for President Bush. You are, as he is, a joy to watch as you defend the facts against the onslaught of seemingly braindead pseudo-journalists' attacks disguised as questions, and we smile every day as you clean their intellectual clocks in defense of the President's strong, well reasoned, pro-American policies.
Many of us have prayed for you through your illness, thanking God for your recovery, and as you made the difficult decision to leave broadcasting to become President Bush's Press Secretary, and we thank God for not only your health but also your decision to sacrifice much to serve your country as you serve the President.
We know that you are self-effacing and humble (another characteristic you share with your boss), and won't take credit for the changes in style at the White House, but we also know that you have had a hand in a stronger, feistier White House presentation, and for that we thank you.
On this thread we express our deep and well-founded admiration for President Bush daily, but on this day, we have chosen to include you in our tribute to jobs well done.
Thank you, Tony, for all you do for your country, your President, and us!
Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on the Daily Dose! These are great times to be a Bushbot..........AND a Snowflake!!
We miss you and pray for you daily. You've been an inspiration to all of us... as well as an education for the world. I think of you as I cut through Rock Center to go to St. Patricks... the Atlas sculpture.
I planned a graphics extravaganza (The Joys and Trials of The Snowman... a man with Snark), featuring... wait for it... Christopher Walken. There were plenty of photos displaying aspects of your job. My Dell is on it's way out though.
I will attempt to try it again.
Love, courage, patience, fortitude.
Whoa. I am not worthy.
He didn't stop by to wish me a Happy Birthday either. I'm not voting for him next time.

WHO KNEW CONGRESSMAN FOLEY WAS A CLOSETED DEMOCRAT?
by Ann Coulter
Posted Oct 04, 2006
At least liberals are finally exhibiting a moral compass about something. I am sure that they'd be equally outraged if Rep. Mark Foley were a Democrat.
The object lesson of Foley's inappropriate e-mails to male pages is that when a Republican congressman is caught in a sex scandal, he immediately resigns and crawls off into a hole in abject embarrassment. Democrats get snippy.
Foley didn't claim he was the victim of a "witch-hunt." He didn't whine that he was a put-upon "gay American." He didn't stay in Congress and haughtily rebuke his critics. He didn't run for re-election. He certainly didn't claim he was "saving the Constitution." (Although his recent discovery that he has a drinking problem has a certain Democratic ring to it.)

MEANWHILE, IN OTHER NEWS... [IT'S ALL (PRESIDENT) BUSH'S FAULT]
By Mark Noonan at 04:29 PM
While the MSM is doing an All-Foley-All-The-Time circus and Demcorats rub their hands with glee over the prospect of winning power without having to state what they believe, there is other news going on...and, no, I don't mean GOPers wringing their hands and wetting their beds over the Foley issue. There's real news out there - news which will matter once the Democrats have finished overplaying their hand on Foley, as they always do with every one of these things.
We've got the Dow at another record high. Not bad.
We've got mortgage applications on the rise - which indicates a resurgence in the housing market is on the way.
The Sixth Circuit court has issued a stay in that absurd ruling against the NSA's signals intelligence program - this means we can still actually track terrorists, which is a pretty cool thing.
I heard on the news this AM that our government had blocked a bank which was being used by the North Korean tyrants to hide their money...which means that North Korea is likely on the verge of collapse and the top guys are feathering their nest for a fall...and this, in turn, indicates why we've gone on a soft approach towards North Korea...no sense starting a war with a country which can be relied upon to die soon.

And thanks for the kind words.........(and the great idea of this double tribute!)
Thank you kindly, Nordic Princess. :)
Tony,
You have brought more charm and intelligence to the job as White House spokesman than any other person who has ever held the position.
It's an incredibly demanding job and I pray for you daily, that God grant you strength and courage and still find time to be with your beloved family.
Thank you for working on behalf of our wonderful President; we're all delighted with this administration and your part in it.
Kindest regards,
Peach
Great post, Peach. Thanks!
