The controversial anti-homosexual Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., has canceled its plans to stage a protest at the funerals of the five Amish girls executed in their Pennsylvania school, a church official said Wednesday.

What could they possibly protest?????
Setting themselves up for attack so that they could sue?
The Governor of Pennsylvania made a disparaging remark about them.
"the group canceled the protests in exchange for an hour of radio time Thursday on syndicated talk-show host Mike Gallagher's radio program."
I'm sure there may have been threats, but a free hour of syndication probably had them drooling even more than protesting a few deaths. The funerals usually only get them a couple of seconds of air time and an article or two. POS.

NOPE! They got "bought off". They agreed to cancel for an offer to appear on the Mike Gallagher show for an hour. Mike is our hero! He got them to back off, but he has to put up with them for an hour. YUK!!!! He's really dreading it - being in the same room with these pukes!
Yeah, who IS funding them? Their travel expenses must be pretty hefty. You know a 501(c)(3) can only spend 10% of its time on political issues; not sure what it is for church's but this one seems to spend ALL its time on politics.
While I am glad that these assclowns have changed their plans, I am not happy about them getting any airtime--even if it means Gallagher verbally shits on them for thirty minutes.

BTW...I'm not known for being profane, but I was reading through this thread and noticed that none of the cussing is getting cleaned up. I wonder if the mods are nodding their heads in agreement and turning a blind eye.

Well, it was, apparently, a smart move on *their part* (but not if you don't agree with their viewpoint) -- because they "traded" the protest at the funeral for *one solid hour* of national media time to talk and talk and talk about what they want to.
I guess they figured that was worth more than the exposure that they were going to get by protesting. For PR, that was a smart move...

It doesn't appear that the death threats dissuaded them at all. What did the trick for them was that they were granted a full hour of media time to yap up a storm. They took that in a quick-minute, in place of the protesting. "What a deal!"

Can Gallagher suddenly change his mind at the last minute and not have them on?

Well, I would, for one. And, I imagine, with the instructions that a judge would give the jury, with the admonitions of the prosecutor for the state -- a lot of other people would, too.

They took the deal for media time and so we'll be hearing them talk for a whole hour about their philosophy -- I guess....

Good idea. There are a lot of mentally unbalanced folks in PA who would be glad to put them out of their misery.
