Fever Swamp Blogs Hid Foley Evidence?

There’s now evidence that the fever swamp blogosphere (led by the vicious John Avarosis, who runs one of the ugliest of the lefty hate sites, Americablog), deliberately concealed information about Mark Foley for months without any concern for potential victims of Foley’s advances, so they could spring it on the public at election time. Is Gay Activist Mark Rogers Behind The Foley “Outing”?

October 3rd, 2006

In a post at his Blogactive website, Michael Rogers seems to want to take a bow for his noble work:

Good news... Bad news...

Sunday, October 01, 2006

Well the good news is that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is finally getting it. I called their Director of Communications, Bill Burton, before the Foley story broke to let him know about Foley (and another case) were coming down the pike. While Burton promised to have someone email or return my call and didn't, I am glad he followed up on my call and was ready on Friday to come out of the gate running.

The bad new is they are still not paying enough attention... There are others within reach... If the Democrats would only fight half as hard as the Republicans.

I posted comments at the DCCC website on the Foley entry. Not only do their promises of returned calls and emails never come to fruition, but now they are deleting my comments from their blog, The Stakeholder.

Luckily the comments were cached before they axed them.

Here's the one I put up at 9:55pm:

Here's the one I put up at 10:02pm:

Well, at least they are paying attention.

And how telling it is that the Stakeholder, the homepage of the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) would delete his posts.

Mr. Rogers and his friends have been on this mission for several years now.

From a two year old article in the gay advocacy giveaway, the Washington (DC) Blade:

Blade Caption: Florida Congressman Mark Foley (R) has vowed to vote against the Federal Marriage Amendment, but gay activist John Aravosis said he decided to out the congressman anyway because Foley supports the re-election of President Bush.

Mikulski and Foley become newest congressional targets as FMA vote nears

By ADRIAN BRUNE
Friday, July 09, 2004

... Mike Rogers and John Aravosis, [are] the two men loosely heading an ongoing outing campaign on the Hill. As the date nears for a Senate vote on the Federal Marriage Amendment, which would ban gay marriages in the Constitution, Rogers said the outings have picked up steam — from 13 documented offices to nearly 20 currently on a target list provided by Rogers to the Blade.

In addition to Tolman, Rogers and Aravosis, working in tandem but not together, claimed in the last week to have outed via the Web Democratic Sen. Barbara Mikulski of Maryland and Republican Congressman Mark Foley of Florida...

A spokesperson for Congressman Mark Foley (R-Fla.) also declined to comment after Aravosis specifically asserted that Foley is gay on his Web site last week...

Aravosis continued to defend the outing campaign.

“An acquaintance of mine, a Southern Republican, worked for a member who was not anti-gay personally, but he signed on to the amendment [banning gay marriage],” Aravosis said. “My friend quit. I’m basically saying, ‘You know what, you have a choice. It’s 2004. You can work for pro-gay Democrats, and now you can work for pro-gay Republicans.’” ...

Over in the House, Republican Mark Foley said in March that he would vote against the Federal Marriage Amendment — one week after his spokesperson said he would not take a position on the measure until it came up for a House vote.

Despite Foley’s FMA opposition, Aravosis purported to out Foley as well, taking him to task for supporting President Bush, who endorsed the measure late last winter. Labeling Foley as “our latest closeted gay hypocrite,” Aravosis said Foley made the list for putting politics ahead of his own community by “whoring for an anti-gay president.” ...

Florida Congressman Mark Foley (R) has vowed to vote against the Federal Marriage Amendment, but gay activist John Aravosis said he decided to out the congressman anyway because Foley supports the re-election of President Bush.

Foley responded to the reports by initiating a telephone press conference among non-gay Florida media and called discussion about his sexual orientation “revolting.” He declined at that time to answer questions about his sexual orientation and subsequently abandoned his bid for the Senate, citing concerns over his father’s health.

Aravosis said he obtained the latest information about the five-term congressman from Foley’s former chief of staff, Kirk Fordham.

Fordham, who is gay, headed up fund-raising efforts for Foley’s aborted Senate campaign and is now the finance director for one of the remaining GOP primary candidates in that race: Mel Martinez, George W. Bush’s former Housing & Urban Development secretary. Martinez has come out in favor of the Federal Marriage Amendment.

Fordham denied ever speaking with Aravosis and told the Blade, “I just don’t discuss Congressman Foley’s personal life with reporters, but I’m not sure what their motive is in outing him, other than to draw attention to themselves. Foley has a good track record with gay issues and opposes the FMA.” ...

It seems very probable that one or all of the gentlemen mentioned in this article have had a hand in the recent revelations about Mark Foley.

It is equally likely that one or all of them is behind the anonymous website, StopSexPredators.blogspot.com, that first produced Foley's alleged emails out of the blue.

Michael Rogers started his own website, blogactive.com, back in July of 2004.

Oddly enough, there was a significant drop-off in his activities there after July of this year, which is when StopSexPredators.blogspot.com was begun.

From Alexa:

Mike Rogers should probably be at the top of the list of suspects.

I went onto Rushs' web-site and his theory is that the Clinton smear machine has been re-activated. Good old Carvel and friends. When I read it it started to click,Theres the Clinton tirade on Fox that led to the attacks on Fox for being right-wing. The leaks of the terror estimate report, the slimeimg of Jennie Pirro in New York and now this. Don't get me wrong, I think Foley is a sleeze, but all this so close to the election.Coincidence? I think not.

Mark Foley...Read about how Mark Foley hit on men less than half his age at the Republican convention...Read about how Mark Foley voted to remove protections from those same young gay men and lesbians and anyone else violating a local discrimination law!!!
And back in 2004 there were open threats in the Washington Blade by Rogers targeting Foley:

20 offices said targeted
Not likely, say Mike Rogers and John Aravosis, the two men loosely heading an ongoing outing campaign on the Hill. As the date nears for a Senate vote on the Federal Marriage Amendment, which would ban gay marriages in the Constitution, Rogers said the outings have picked up steam — from 13 documented offices to nearly 20 currently on a target list provided by Rogers to the Blade.

While Tolman confirmed he is gay, the Mikulski’s office refused to comment on speculation she is a lesbian, something Aravosis implied last week on his site.

A spokesperson for Congressman Mark Foley (R-Fla.) also declined to comment after Aravosis specifically asserted that Foley is gay on his Web site last week.

Both members of Congress have long been the subject of rumors about their sexual orientation.
Foley abused his position and may have been involved in criminal activity.

Democrats knew this for over a year.
With 6 weeks before the November elections, they broke the dam loose!

More from March 2005 at BlogActive...

From the gay outing website on March 22, 2005:

blogACTIVE.com has confirmed with three separate sources that, in fact, US Rep. Mark Foley is a gay man. Foley has voted to support discrimination against gay men and lesbians on more than one occasion.

A source has confirmed with blogACTIVE.com that Foley lives a practically an out life at his Florida residence, often seen entertaining gay men, some of whom the source described as "close to underage."

...I've thought hard about what kind of TAKE ACTION would work, but there is really is none right now. Everyone already knows Foley's a self hating closet case. When we get closer to the mid-term elections, I am sure more will surface.
And, there you have it!

Others in the Game: La Shawn Barber, Passionate America, Michelle Malkin, HotAir, Just One Minute, Flopping Aces, Right Wing Nuthouse, Dan Riehl has an update Powerline, Instapundit, Ace, RedState, Wizbang, TigerHawk, American Thinker...
Gay Patriot weighs in.

(Let me clarify, there are 2 issues here: There is the sexual predator issue that is abominable, and then there is the skunk issue, those that waited with their reports while children were in jeopardy until 6 weeks outside of an election to release their "news"!)

Now the Mark Foley story is getting weird. (Yes, I know it’s already weird, but this is weirder.) There doesn’t seem to be any doubt that Foley’s guilty of making advances to teenage boys—after all, he resigned—but there’s something very odd about the email messages being circulated by media and left wing blogs: Foleygate: Mark Foley emails altered.

Does Anybody In Our Media Remember Gerry Studds?

October 1st, 2006

For some reason I just feel the need to remember that great Democrat Congressmen and rights pioneer Gerry Studds.

From Wikipedia:

Gerry StuddsPhoto

Gerry Eastman Studds (born May 12, 1937) is a retired American politician, born in Mineola, New York. He served as a Democratic Congressman for Massachusetts from 1973 until 1996. He was the first openly homosexual member of the US Congress and, more generally, the first openly gay national politician in the US.

Congressional page sex scandal

Studds is remembered chiefly for his role in the Congressional page sex scandal in 1983, when he and Representative Dan Crane were censured by the House of Representatives for separate sexual relationships with a minor – in Studds's case, a 1973 relationship with a 17-year-old male congressional page.

During the course of the House Ethics Committee's investigation, Studds publicly acknowledged his homosexuality, a disclosure that, according to a Washington Post article, "apparently was not news to many of his constituents."

Studds stated in an address to the House, "It is not a simple task for any of us to meet adequately the obligations of either public or private life, let alone both, but these challenges are made substantially more complex when one is, as I am, both an elected public official and gay."

As the House read their censure of him, Studds turned his back and ignored them.

Later, at a press conference with the former page standing beside him, the two stated that what had happened between them was nobody's business but their own.

Studds was re-elected five more terms after the censure...

Maybe the change of season is just making me nostalgic. I'm also strangely reminded of that equally heroic Congressman Barney Frank:

http://cache.wonkette.com/politics/frankhand.jpg

I guess some Congressman are more equal than others.

Especially Democrats.

16 Comments » "And we are told that homosexuals are normal, and that we should not be worried about them being in our schools, etc.,. Then, how come it seems that they are always looking or turning to young boys?"" There is something really rank about the smell of this. Let’s look at the facts………….
The emails and IMs were given to ABC by CREW (Citizens for Ethics) a far left wing organization funded by surprise, surprise….. George Soros. And the head of CREW is none other than a Clinton staffer and worked for that bastion of Islamic rights, John Conyers (D-Michigan). CREW was implement in going after Tom DeLay.
Now it seems that CREW has possession of these emails and IM for a long time. But chose this particular time to release them to ABC (who is not admitting that it was CREW that give them up)."

Foley setup?--Correct. In other words, people knew there was a predator out there, but they failed to report him immediately - preferring to wait until a time that created a political opportunity.--Former page: We knew about Foley 'for years'

Foley--Anybody who is surprised at this needs to recalibrate their radar. Timing of the release of damaging information is critical. The old media campaigns for the Democrats. They generically attack 90% of the time, but save the really damaging individual stuff to affect elections. Of course they've been sitting on this for the right time to release it. Politics is a full contact bare knuckles enterprise.--pdf format at ABC Exclusive: Foley Explicit IMs

Internal Review of Contacts with the Office of the Speaker Regarding the Cong. Mark Foley Matter--ABC News along with the entire MSM is always working with the DNC to subvert the GOP right before election-time. They did it to Bush 41 4 days before the 1992 election with an Iran-Contra-Weinberger "surprise" (which turned out to be meaningless but then cost Bush 4%). They did it to then-Gov. Bush with the sudden DUI release one week before the 2000 elections (which cost Bush 5%). They are doing it again here, and I think there will be one more "surprise" before October is done.

Folyegate Unraveling On Democrats

Posted by AJStrata on October 10th, 2006

Happened to be one of those rare days when I am in the car when Rush is on and saying something of interest to me (you would be surprised how rare that actually is!) and he asked if the Foley story would have legs. If it is about Foley and Hastert - no. But if it is about who in the Democrat party held the information that would indicate Foley was possible sexual predator of pages the story will stay in the news. I have deduced that the leak about Foley and his overtures to the Lousianna Page - which ignited the story and resulted in the other leads which have clearly caused concern about Foley’s activities with Pages as they graduated out of the program - occurred some time between Oct 17 and November 30th, 2005.

In addition, we know the leak and subsequent shopping of the emails was not done by the same person. The emails in question appear to have been between the LA Page and Danielle Savoy in Rep Alexander’s office. There are some who claim the source of the emails was a Rep. But these same claims say a ‘man’ was shopping these email around the newsmedia from November of 2005 through July, and possibly into August, of 2006. The reporting has it the source of the leaks was Rep Alexander’s staff (or maybe former staff, as we shall learn in a moment.

For all of this time the ‘man’ apparently never informed authorities that Foley was a threat to Pages and recently graduated Pages. It was not until CREW notified the FBI in July of 2006 that anyone attempted to raise a red flag, but the CREW versions of the emails were so heavily redacted the FBI could not do much with them.

Today we have reporting from The Prowler at American Spectator from two DNC sources confirming there was a plot to withhold this information from the public and law enforcement in order to use it for partisan gain!:

According to one political consultant with ties to the DNC and other party organizations, “I’m hearing the Foley story wasn’t supposed to drop until about ten days out of the election. It was supposed the coup de grace, not the first shot.”

What this DNC source is saying is the Democrats and CREW were supposed to conceal the Foley risk even longer than they did! This means the Dems were going to allow Foley to continue his efforts to prey on young men so that they could have an election year scandal to sweep them into office. As I have said many times, if the Dems were ever caught hiding these warning signs about Foley they would be as guilty as Foley in terms of risking the kids. Foley was preying on these kids for personal pleasure, the Dems were clearly allowing Foley to prey on these kids for personal/partisan gain! Both were exploiting these kids for selfish and selve serving reasons. The Dems may call Hastert negligent, but clearly the Dems KNEW what they were doing when they decided top exploit them.

“Republicans had to have known we’d be looking to change the national debate,” says a House Democrat leadership aide. “You had our leadership looking at cratering polling numbers. A majority within grasp wasn’t drifting away, it was being yanked back by Republicans. I wouldn’t be surprised if Foley had to be bumped up on the scandal schedule. That makes a lot of sense given where we were two weeks ago, and where we are now.”

This seems to be a bit of crowing by the Dem leadership aide about how well their efforts worked, even though they had to pull the trigger on the Foley scandal sooner than they wanted to. So who was this leadership aide? Well, Gateway Pundit has a lead on who that might be - and possible connection to the leak itself and who shopped it to the media for nearly a year - courtesy Erik at Redstate:

In August of 2004, Rodney Alexander’s Chief of Staff, Brian Smoot, and five other staffers abruptly quit because Alexander switched to the GOP. National Journal reported on August 13, 2004, that the Chief of Staff “sharply criticized Alexander for switching parties.” The Chief of Staff and five staffers were promptly hired by minority leader Nancy Pelosi.

So we have a Dem leadership aide who also has contacts inside Alexander’s office. Coincidnce? Is this why Pelosi refused to testify under oath or on a polygraph? Gateway Pundit also has information on Harper’s Magazine having this information for over a year since May of 2006! Clearly the effort was not to protect the kids in the Page program, or just coming out of the program this summer, but to use their exposure to a sexual predator as partisan scandal for electorial gains. Pathetic.

Major Update: Harper’s confirms that a Democrat operative was shopping the story in May (same time CREW got the story) and NOT attempting to alert authorities in order to protect the kids:

Last May, a source put me in touch with a Democratic operative who provided me with the now-infamous emails that Foley had sent in 2004 to a sixteen-year-old page. He also provided several emails that the page sent to the office of Congressman Rodney Alexander, a Louisiana Republican who had sponsored him when he worked on Capitol Hill. “Maybe it is just me being paranoid, but seriously, This freaked me out,” the page wrote in one email. In the fall of 2005, my source had provided the same material to the St. Petersburg Times—and I presume to The Miami Herald—both which decided against publishing stories.

It was a Democrat who brought me the emails, but comments he made and common sense strongly suggest they were originally leaked by a Republican office. And while it’s entirely possible that Democratic officials became aware of the accusations against Foley, the source was not working in concert with the national Democratic Party. Harpers has got to be kidding! The operative was disgusted and concerned but never once sent the info authorities? If this story had broken then the leads that came in later that filled in the picture of Foley targetting kids in the Page program for later contact would have come much earlier. But that would have made the news of minimal value to the Dems. So they held it and kept trying to shop it. The fact they tried to shop it is not a sign of their good intent. In fact, it is a signal of a ‘test run’. To see what would have to be part of the story to make it actionable by the press. Or, if the early versions were incomplete or sanitized, it could have been the simple act of establishing an alibi - a cover story. We would have to see what was shopped at each phase to see if everyone got EXACTLY the same information.

So I say Harpers and Aravosis and the St Peterburg Time all do what CREW and ABC News did and publish what they were provided. We the people can then decide if there was an honest effort on the part of the dems. The fact CREW contacted the FBI, with incomplete information, is not an indication the Dems and their media allies were hitting the signal flares! Sorry, but dems could have alerted authorities at any point in time if this was such a driving concern.

Update:Another item in the Harper’s article is somehow they had a version or access that gave them insight into who the LA Page was:

I tried to contact the page who received Foley’s emails and the boy’s parents, but got no reply to my inquiries.

Right there we have some interesting questions. We know the ABC News versions of the Savoy emails and Savoy’s name (and led straight to Rep Alexander’s office. The CREW version possibly had this information redacted. But with the knowledge of which Rep office was getting the complaint it would be trivial to track down which Pages were from that district (the Page program is just not that large in any given year). Given Rep Alexander’s efforts to protect the identity of the Page I find it hard to believe they wanted these emails out in a form that could ID the specific district.

I wonder how well the Net is countering the media whoredom efforts to cover up the lies and fabrications they've been running for their demigod democraps? Sickening, don'tchaknow.

The Gay Republican-Kim Jong Il Connection

Politics is all about timing. Apparently, the liberals behind Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), the group that received information about Mark Foley's sexual instant messages as far back as April, originally planned to unleash its blockbuster a bit later in the 2008 election cycle. The American Spectator reports that a political consultant with ties to the Democratic National Committee told the magazine: "I'm hearing the Foley story wasn't supposed to drop until about ten days out of the election. It was supposed to be the coup de grace, not the first shot."

But as another Democratic operative told the magazine, the political climate at the end of September was suddenly turning ominous. "Bush's national security speeches were getting traction beyond the base, gas prices were dropping, economic outlook surveys were positive. Republicans were back to [holding enough House] seats for a 15-seat majority. In the Senate, it looked like a wash." All that may have played a role in prompting Democratic partisans to speed up the use of opposition research on Mr. Foley that had been put aside for later in the campaign. "Republicans had to have known we'd be looking to change the national debate," says a House Democrat leadership aide.

UPDATE: Strasphere has more here on the party of Obstruction and Personal Destruction;

The WaPo seems to be trying to get ahead of some coming news by admitting they dealt with a democrat operative peddling the Foley story and used a Democrat Page source who was interested in affecting the coming elections

Between WaPo and Harpers we don't need much more evidence of Democrat dirty tricks - do we?

Here is what I have written previously about this:

The closest thing to position papers or briefs I have written about this subject, and gays are here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1715754/posts?page=14#14
and here:
http://www.freedominion.ca/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=785474&highlight=#785474

And I truly believe that the Left's throwing gays under the bus for cheap ( and probably transient or nonexistent ) political gains is going to backfire on them, badly. They look mean in both the modern and archaic sense of the word.

And I will also add that I find the "outing" of any gays who are minding their own business to be extremely onerous, obnoxious, and offensive.

Harry Reid's scandal, which puts Foley into new light

If you are getting the idea that gay Republicans may be closeted Democrats, then you are beginning to understand how the Mark Foley scandal could have been a Democratic Party dirty trick. Here:

Thanks again for your excellent research.

BTW, I want to thank you ever so much again for all those Civil Defense links you did some years ago. The info on nukes was especially appreciated. I guess if you've watched "Jericho" you're laughing your rear end off at the poetic license taken by the show's authors and all that is unrealistic on the show. More mis-information.

Also, you may be interested in a link I'm providing. I read this guy's book some years ago. He claims he is a former U. S. Army Intelligence Officer. His thinly disguised novel is no longer printed, no doubt because of the information it contained regarding survival. I finally located the author here:

The kosaks have just started AN OPEN SEASON ON ALL HOMOSEXUALS IN THE USA:
Kos Kidz Plan to "Out" The Whole World

Can you imagine a world with these freaks in power? Daily Kos: ‘Out’ all Republican Gays in Congress. (Hat tip: Killgore Trout.)   link: 217 comments  "This exposes what the L³eft really think about gay rights. Pretty much the same thing they think about all other rights.  If it doesn't promote their agenda then it isn't a right.

So let me get this straight (heh heh, no pun intended)... You're going to openly and actively persecute Republicans based on sexual preference, but whenever any of us on the right makes so much of a whisper of preserving traditional marriage, all of a sudden we're targeting the gay community and denying them their rights.  They love minorities as long as they are "their" minorities.

I'm consistently amazed at the Koslings. They believe that if they "out" closeted gay Republicans, it will- what? Turn people who already don't like the GOP against it? Make the Republican Party split along sexual/gender difference lines? (I refuse to use the term "sexual preference"- however GLBT individuals may differ from others, it is most certainly not a matter of "preference", any more than the color of your eyes is a "preference".) Or maybe they think that the GOP will collapse when they tell the rest of America what its leaders are "really like".
This is the same game they have repeatedly played on any group or individual they hate. Accuse them of a "crime", find them guilty of it, and demand that they disappear forever in expiation of their "sins". Give them scarlet robes and goatees, and they'd be the Spanish Inquisition. (And yes, I have seen the Monty Python skit about them- it's one of my favorites.) But the fact that they would exploit someone's difference to demean them, when they would rabidly attack anyone who criticized someone on their side of the political spectrum for possessing the same attribute, disgusts me.
More to the point, if (as they say), all these GOPers are "closeted", how would they know? I'm 48 and a lifelong bachelor- does that mean they assume I'm gay? (Drop by sometime, we'll discuss it- calmly. Assuming, that is, that said Koslings are even capable of acting calm.)
