If Foley was a gay dem, the story would be "just about sex" and the Republicans would be homophones who are afraid of sexuality.
The MSM would be handing out passes to any liberal they could find, and at best this would be a one day story about uptight conservatives and "everyone does it" and what's the big deal? We would also be told how much an investigation would cost to look into the issue - maybe 40 million? And the young man in question would be looked at with doubt -- did he come from a broken home? Is he unstable?
Was Foley the dem just trying to minister to him? Did the child really come on to him? Yep, the MSM would give a pass - and reporters would state how they would be thrilled to have someone like Foley come on to them... Ohhhh, they would love to wear the knee pads of Monica...
In their minds, Christian conservatives are hayseed simpletons who cannot distinguish between a party that has a few moral perverts in it and a party that lives and breathes to force societal acceptance of perversion.
I think this will backfire on the dems big time.....they are playing hardball but they depend very heavily on the so called moderate or indy voter, but when the election season becomes too heated the moderates stay home...our base is far larger than theirs

you may not care - but let's face it, alot of conservatives cannot separate opposition to the gay political agenda (marriage, adoption, school curriculum, etc), from simply "not liking" gays. The left knows this is a button they can push, and hopes conservatives will be asking for some kind of "gay purge" of the party.
I thought Drier came "out of the closet" years ago. He and Arizona's Kolbe were always mentioned as the gays in the GOP

I think these people that have supported the Dems have some soul searching to do about now.

I suspect this list or something related to it, is what prevented the Republican Senate from punishing Clinton for his impeachment.
Now would be the time for Democrats to decide to "out" gay Republicans because "gay Republican" is synonymous with molesting children after the Foley ... affair.
