Election officials at state and local levels are considering posting signs in polling places and including material in absentee ballots throughout the 16th Congressional District clarifying that a vote for former U.S. Rep. Mark Foley is a vote for his Republican replacement Joe Negron.
Negron supports the idea but his opponent, Democrat Tim Mahoney, as well as some legal experts, are crying foul, saying this would give the Republican an unfair advantage in a race already overshadowed by controversy and turmoil.
"If that sign is permitted, we're going to fight it," said Wahid Mahmood, chairman of the Democratic Party in Palm Beach County. "It's not fair to other candidates; it's a campaign slogan."

It seems to me that the Dems now *want* voter confusion. So much for standing on principle.
Classic. If this were a Democrat mess, they'd want poll watchers to help the rabble cast the correct ballot.
That would be fair. If the democrats were to argue that one, they'd look like bad tempered children who simply don't want to play fair.
Those from Florida might want to contact their representatives and suggest it.

As for the Dems' argument that it's a campaign slogan, the sign could just say something like: "The ballots were printed before the resignation of Republican candidate Mark Foley. He has been replaced as the Republican candidate by Joe Negron." That is NOT a slogan, just a clarification.
But if you vote for the dead Democrat his wife gets his Senate seat?

How about "A vote for Mark Foley is a vote for a Disgraced Pervert." That should work.
Solution: Have a sign that says: "A vote for Mark Foley is a vote for Joe Negron; a vote for Tim Mahoney is a vote for Tim Mahoney."
They'd look at your sign the same way they look at the 10 Commandments. They'd be afraid someone might actually read it!

Oh...sure, we KNEW the dems would have to find something to complain about.
We already have Robert or whoever, Kennedy going on Hairball and other shows...saying the election machines are made by a company that has given money to Republicans...so they are "fixing" the machines to delete dem votes...
They are all over the place, complaining about election fraud, MONTHS before the election.
Only Democrats would ever think to define putting up signs telling voters for whom they are actually voting as somehow unfair. And people say their party never comes up with anything new!

| What's the problem? Put up signs that say a vote for Foley is a vote for Negron and a vote for Mahoney is a vote for Mahoney. For crying out loud Mahoney's name would appear twice and wipes out the complaint that it would give an unfair advantage to the Republican. This would be an easy argument to tear apart in a courtroom. |
With a name like Wahid Mahmood, the chairman might as well make a sign saying "A vote for Mark Foley is a vote against the umma."
