When a Monroe teenager first contacted a member of Rodney Alexander's staff about email messages from former Florida Congressman Mark Foley the young man asked the staff member not to say anything. But once a reporter contacted Representative Alexander, the congressman said he had to report the incident.
The young man in question says he wants all the media attention to just go away. "He's in school and trying to understand whats going on," U.S Congress Rep. Rodney Alexander said. "He is upset, needless to say, and his parents are concerned."
Out of Washington and in his Monroe office, Representative Rodney Alexander is one of the few people talking to a Monroe teenager pulled into the latest political scandal. It's a scandal that has some making threats on the young man's life. "There are some people out there that think this young man is responsible for bringing down a member of Congress," said Alexander, "but we know that is not the case."
Once a champion for protecting children from online predators, Foley's email to a Monroe teenager asking for a picture, eventually lead to not only his resignation from Congress but the discovery of alleged sexual messages with other teenage boys. "There are emails and messages out there with severe implications," Alexander said. "Sexual implications that this young man did not receive."
Alexander says his main goal is to protect the young man's well being. One way he is doing that is by asking the media to shift the focus from one teenager. "There are other pages sponsored by other members of Congress," Alexander said. "No one is saying what did they do? What did they know? How did they try to stop this?"
Hopefully questions that will be answered as the pieces of this political puzzle continue to fall into place. Representative Alexander says the young man's parents are very concerned and upset by the attention on their son. Some wondered if Rep. Alexander will face a political backlash during his re-election bid for turning over the email that set these events in motion. He said, simply, he could.

. . .Good one/LOL! . .
(and a reminder as well, that responding to IM's is always a 'choice'. . .an aspect of this 'scandal' that begs a little context; perhaps. . .)
jmt, my post wasn't directed at you. You just happened to be the last in line. ;-)
However, you're right...I have no idea whether Foley ever IM'd a minor. I do know though that the 3 IM's being paraded around by ABC, et al, are between Foley and a former page above 18.
Sorry I did not understand...
<< This poor kid has had death threats?
Who the h*ll would (Manufacture) such an abominable (Lie)? >>
The treasonous un-and-anti-American Soros-financed Cli'ton-patronized gang willing to go to any (October-Surprise) length to cause the Republicans (And with them, America!) to lose control of both house and senate in next month's elections.
Who else would be competent -- and/or even interested -- and/or own the servers upon which it was achieved -- to save the thread of every one of these stooge kids' staged exchanges with the execrable faggot, Foley?
Whose actions and notwithsatanding their pathetic loathsomeness, pale into insignificance beside those of that Bolshy bastard, Barny Fwank, who operated a sodomists-for-hire racket from his DC house and office and beside those of the 1990s recidivist, treasonous, lying, looting, thieving, mass-murdering, co-serial-rapist incidental "president" who used the power of our office for the purpose of soliciting the sexual and sodomy and sucking-up services of interns with the mental and emotional capabilities of twelve-year-old children.
Screw the evil Foley.
But burn in Hell the truly evil bastard, Soros, and every last one, including all of Disney/ABC, the DNC, Rodney Alexander and Joseph Pleasant and every other of their un-and-anti-American Socialist International and islamic terrorist-supporting ilk!
Burn in Hell!
BUMPping
That said. . .a LOL bump. . .;^)
<< This poor kid has had death threats?
Who the h*ll would do such an abominable thing?
DemocRATS posing as Republicans would be my guess .... >>
.... In which sentence the words: "posing as Republicans would be my guess," are entirely redundant!
I saw that same interview, and thought the exact same thing. I have had a computer for a number of years, I was racking my brain trying to figure out if they had IM 10 years ago. He was very weird, there was definately something about him that was not right.
The History of Instant Messaging
Mirabilis established itself as the first general instant messenger in November, 1996...
Instant messaging
MIT's Project Athena created the first instant messaging tool in 1987 with the graphical Zephyr client.
Do you have a link on the authenticity confirm of IM logs by Foley's office?
"trying to understand what's going on?"
Hmmm.
ICQ and others also existed prior to 1997
------------------------------------
How do you know this?
a sensible notion, i say. give him his day in court and let our system work for a change...we have laws and if Foley broke one (or 2 or more), then he should pay the cost for being the boss.
m&s
Question... where did all the 2003 IM stuff come from? Who was that page/those pages?
Why did Loraditch (page from 2001-2002 class), tell Ross he and other pages were warned about Foley by a supervisor in 2001?
Huh? Why doesn't this sound right to me?
The teenager told a staff member. Asked him not to say anything. But the staffer told the Congressman. And then the Congressman reported it to ...whom?
Another point, of which you're probably aware...some of our 'vastly superior intellectual leaders' don't even seem to know the difference between what an email and an IM even is.
They confuse the two and everything gets even fuzzier for the ignorant.
I know that Gateway Pundit showed that they were altered a couple days ago.
