When a Monroe teenager first contacted a member of Rodney Alexander's staff about email messages from former Florida Congressman Mark Foley the young man asked the staff member not to say anything. But once a reporter contacted Representative Alexander, the congressman said he had to report the incident.
The young man in question says he wants all the media attention to just go away. "He's in school and trying to understand whats going on," U.S Congress Rep. Rodney Alexander said. "He is upset, needless to say, and his parents are concerned."
Out of Washington and in his Monroe office, Representative Rodney Alexander is one of the few people talking to a Monroe teenager pulled into the latest political scandal. It's a scandal that has some making threats on the young man's life. "There are some people out there that think this young man is responsible for bringing down a member of Congress," said Alexander, "but we know that is not the case."
Once a champion for protecting children from online predators, Foley's email to a Monroe teenager asking for a picture, eventually lead to not only his resignation from Congress but the discovery of alleged sexual messages with other teenage boys. "There are emails and messages out there with severe implications," Alexander said. "Sexual implications that this young man did not receive."
Alexander says his main goal is to protect the young man's well being. One way he is doing that is by asking the media to shift the focus from one teenager. "There are other pages sponsored by other members of Congress," Alexander said. "No one is saying what did they do? What did they know? How did they try to stop this?"
Hopefully questions that will be answered as the pieces of this political puzzle continue to fall into place. Representative Alexander says the young man's parents are very concerned and upset by the attention on their son. Some wondered if Rep. Alexander will face a political backlash during his re-election bid for turning over the email that set these events in motion. He said, simply, he could.

Nancy Pelosi? James Carville?
Who IS the 'second page'; the one with damaging e-mails. . .and who is paying for his college education?
And what did Mr. Pleasant know and when did he know it. . .
'Good Grief'!
But, of course. ..already suspicious about this 'outing' given my feelings that the Dems are political terrorists. . .so bad are my thoughts here; I am already wondering is George Soros appearing on Fox News w/Cavuto is not a sign to his minions - kind of an 'Osama' type, communication.
Now, do I put 'sarc/off' tag here... or not. . .
. . .or perhaps I just need some sleep. . .
Wierd story. . .or odd, at least. . .or both. . .
This kid is in HS? How old is he?
Do you know the pages' name?
exactly
he was 16 then 17 now i believe according to the news
he was 16 then 17 now i believe according to the news
Thanks....I was confused. I thought this happened 3 years ago!
I second that ---there were IMs then, and I was on AOL from 95-98. I was new to it, and in a chatroom for something or other and some guy saw my username "willcerv" and IM'd me, with the question "who will you serve?" , interpreting my screenname to suit his own purposes...with a few more questions he was asking me "How are you dressed?" (at that point I knew what was going on) So I said "Raspberry Vinaigrette", to which he responded "Yum!". Then I had to tell him goodbye. I guess IM-ing was seen as a particularly cool new way to make a pass, or get instant intimacy by virtue of pushing yourself right onto someone's monitor.
Oh no 3 years ago were the im's I think if not longer
Foley surely easy target; if only for being on the radar screen. . .As to the possibilities of 'hacking into Pages computers/IM's' . . .if the Dem fingerprints are 'here'. . .is it possible to find them?
And back to Soros; the man who promised he would bring down the Repubs - no matter what. . .I see a young man. ..sitting in one of his European enclaves. . .in a well-appointed 'home office'. . .hacking. ..hacking, away. . .
OR. . .perhaps just some talented-but sleazy, 'Move.on' guys; working after hours. . .
THAT said. . .re your comment; had not even thought of Soros in a 'Policy' position. ..surely a sobering version of 'you get what you pay for'. . .
As to Hastert; agree; NO WAY. The man is totally honest; if not 'bumbling honest'. As are many Repubs, for that matter. . .makes it so much easier for the rats for sure.
I just remembered; he said he would not only get Bush. . .and didn't he add; in a LOL moment; that he thought he should be President? Or perhaps he just said he 'wanted' to be. . .Whatever; the man does have plans. . .
That is what this midterm election is about "getting Bush". His minions win they will proceed with impeachment proceedings and cut the funding on Iraq.
cricket, this isn't meant for you..
FOR THE LAST FREAK'N TIME.....
...there are *NO* emails! The emails referenced in the original ABC story on 9/28/06 are not actual emails from Foley. This kid sent emails in which he had cut and pasted tidbits from the body of Foley's emails. He *never* forwarded the complete and original email...with the header, etc. The tidbits were edited and alone from their original context.
...the IM's are between Foley and a *former* page. There are no IM's between Foley and anyone that was a page at the time of the IM'ing. There are no IM's between Foley and anyone under 18.
...The pages were *not* warned about Foley.
Absolutely; when it comes to their political goals; these Dems have an agenda for America that our terrorist enemies can appreciate. . .(or for that matter; anyone whose idiology ends in an 'ism'. . .)
Repubs have got to get on the 'high side' of this scandal; refocus their message and stay in offense against these Demrats. . .the alternatives here for failure are just to fricking. . .mind-boggling, scary.
