Will You Not Vote on Election Day Because of Mark Foley?
10/03/06

Posted on 10/03/2006 8:38:49 AM PDT by MikeA

Media reports, most notably the Washington Post and MessNBC, are claiming the Foley folly will cause Christian conservatives to not vote on election day. Citing unnamed "Republican strategists," they claim this incident nearly ensures Democratic take over of the House in November.

What I want to know is, is there anyone on Free Republic, especially those who might consider themselves to be "Christian conservatives" who will not vote now on election day, or will vote Democrat or third party, because of a now ex-congressman's behavior?

My take on this is there are few if any who would not vote because of this. Indeed, what I'm hearing from many is that they are revved up TO VOTE because of the sleaze and hypocrisy campaigns (can you say Gary Studds and Barney Frank) of Democrats who let their deviant congresspeople get away with exploiting underage predatory targets, but then wax all indignant over Foley. And as they drip hypocrisy, they slander the House leadership with unsupportable claims that they knew of Foley's worst excesses when it is clear they merely knew of some overly-friendly e-mails only which would not have necessarily raised alarm bells.

And the real question is, what did Democrats know and when did they know it? Somehow I doubt this kid who received these e-mails and those who received these IMs over a year ago, back in 2003 in the case of the IMs, are only now feeling violated by this. No, they went to Democrats (probably Carville and Begala) like the twits that they are and Democrats sat on it until just the right moment. It is this perception that I believe contrary to what the Clown Car Media thinks will create a backlash and increased conservative turn out on election day.

I think most voters, even those not conservative, will vote on the issues at stake, not over a now ex-congressman's behavior. While we obsess over an ex-congressman, there are still nihilistic beasts in the world determined to murder us. I think most of us see this election in those terms rather than in terms of some guys creepy e-mails and IMs.

But I want some real world input on this to prove the Clown Car Media wrong. Will the Foley thing change how or if you are going to vote on election day? Does it make you more or less likely to turn out? Does it make you want to vote another way than Republican? I would sure like to show this story to be the wishful dreaming I believe it is by the lock step zombie marchers at MessNBC and the Compost. Post your thoughts here about what the Foley scandal means in terms of your vote.

If interested in what these stories are saying, here is a link to one: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15098144/

Foley doesn't have anything to do with the Michigan races.

Even if the vote counted for the Republican running in his place?

You know the DemonRATs are the only ones that can pull that off.

SO far, my little informal survey of coworkers, friends and family have elicited the following responses :

"Who is Mark Foley"

"He's not my Rep, why would I care?"

SO, despite the breathless pronounciations of the MSM and Dems, America ain't even listening.

Just the opposite. I'm angry with Foley, but I believe the Dems sat on this until just before the election. I'm more determined than ever to vote and vote a straight Republican ticket. My husband, interestingly, is a Democrat and also sees this as Dem dirty tricks. They will eventually push him into the Republican party.

This Foley scandal and the set-up again by the donks and the slanderous liberal MSM by holding the IMs for three years, just like the set-up with the Wilson/Plame affair, makes me even more determined to vote a straight republican ticket. I will gladly cast my vote against any every democrat listed.

I'll vote regardless. None of my races are really competative, though.

It does sound like another stupid liberal prediction.

Probably as accurate and based in reality as all the rest!

Anyway, I always vote.

Negron will win the seat.

He is only like 3 points up. That seat is not in the bag for the Democrats. It really depends if people are willing to pull the vote for 'Foley' knowing there vote will go for the replacement. That is probably where he may lose it. But it will be a tight race.

Boy, I'll tell you, this Foley thing sure has turned me off on the GOP. Instead, I am going to vote for the dems. Yep, Foley has totally changed my mind, now I support euthenasia, abortion, gay marriage and banning any and all references to christianity. Yah, Foley has shown me that it is the democratic party that truly is the party of values. /sarcasm

These are the same lying liars who lied to the American people for weeks leading into the 2004 election, saying the Kerry would win (including polls on election day).

They are just trying to turn off the base with The Big Lie. Goebbels and Stalin would be proud.

You know the DemonRATs are the only ones that can pull that off.

That is the way it is suppose to work in Florida. You can't change the ballot, but you can allocate those votes to an alternative candidate.

On election day I will not vote-for Mark Foley.

From your other posts on FR it appears you are from Pittsburgh. Foley is not a choice on your ballot.
