[When does construction begin on the USS Clinton?
January 20, 2009. This name should have never been allowed.]

Is this true?

No boiler tours, but being an ET, climbed to the top of the mast on all three ships, and going up the Truman's mast in a couple of weeks, for the command I work at here in Norfolk.

I made many trips up to the Radome{??} on trouble calls due to high temps but never up the mast.

The USS Clinton be a floating brothel.
I can just see it now. The flight deck covered in lava lamps and love beads. Old bongs everywhere.
What a sight to behold!

True and got her required yard times in. That proves maintenance counts and saves money and ships too.

Kitty Hawk also benefitted from being the last conventional carrier SLEPed. She finished hers in 1991. Kennedy never received the full SLEP treatment.

He's refering to innauguration day, and supposing that if a democrat takes office as President, that we will see Clinton's name attached to a carrier.

The first CVN21 carrier will start major construction in 2008. I hope by that time, the name of that first vessel will already be decided well before a potential democrat comnes in...and I still believe that a democrat will not come into office. I certainly do not believe that the first one will be Clinton. Some believe Ford gets the next one which I also hope is not true.

The next carrier starts construction five years later, in 2013, which will be into the next presidential cycle.

Nor did the AMERICA. It didn't make a bit of sense to SLEP the oldest carrier in the class instead of the newer ones. In 1989 it was already pretty much laid out we were to downsize the Navy. That being the case running our two newest conventions into the ground while at the same time preserving the oldest one of the two classes was foolish and wasted money. They could have been kept as trainers. Actually the JFK went in and out of unofficial reserve status throughout the Clinton years.

Also has a nasty habit of shooting at low flying missiles' radar reflection off the water instead of the real target.

There's already a ship named for Halsey. It's DDG 97 USS Halsey.

I still like the the name Shanksville. And have a special dispensation and make her hull number 93. CVN-93, USS Shanksville.

Yes, and the white stripes on the deck will be Cocaine, not paint.
