Give the New York Times an 'A' for honesty. In this morning's editorial, the Gray Lady openly admits the only thing it cares about resulting from the Foley scandal is the takeover of congressional power by the Democrats.
Oh, to be sure, the Times huffs and puffs about the Republican majority reaching the "point of decayed purpose so thoroughly, so fast." It also makes this startling claim: "a long, depressing pattern: When there is a choice between the right thing to do and the easiest route to perpetuation of power, top Republicans always pick wrong."
But when it gets to the editorial's bottom line, the Times makes no bones as to what this is all about for them:
"This November may not force Congress to come up with a plan for Iraq, or even immigration. But if it reminds elected officials that theres a punishment waiting for those who fall in love with their own sense of entitlement, it will have done its job."
Got it. Who cares if there are any solutions to the country's pressing problems? So long as the Dems take power, the folks over on W. 43rd will be happy.

It's up to us in the grassroots to make sure the truth gets out since many in the media will do ANYTHING just to win this election for the Dems ... including using children

Funny. I don't recall them making this same argument when the Dems ran congress.

One certainly can't accuse the press of secretly conspiring with the Democrats to subvert the electoral process, because the collusion is so frank, open and unabashed.

"But if it reminds elected officials that theres a punishment waiting for those who fall in love with their own sense of entitlement, it will have done its job." Maybe the NYT and its selected and protected elected officials should heed their own warning.
"It will have done its job." Just like the more honest mafia thinks it has to break legs of people who don't pay up...
What an admission of corruption and thuggery. I hope the punishment payoff is VERY SEVERE, very soon and falls only on the actual perps.

'Who cares that we suppressed evidence regarding the possibility of child molestation as long as we regain power' That's it isn't it? Hell is certainly too good of a place for those who prey on kids, but what to do with those who use kids as bait in a political power play?

theres a punishment waiting for those who fall in love with their own sense of entitlement...Now there's a nugget of truth. It applies equally to journalists and members of the welfare state.

Do they have a heavy influence or some sense of control over the DOJ? If so, what is it, how did they get it, and what can be done about it?
Are they just so contemptuous of US that they think they can get away with anything and we'll shut up and take it?

I'm not any less inclined to vote for my congressman after this mess with Foley. I'm not sure that the voters in the country are going to punish their own congressman either because of Foley.

Can someone update me? What exactly is the scandal here. I know about the emails And heard a little bit concerning the IMs. Is there more?

What exactly is the scandal here. The scandal is that the Democrats are in an uproar because the House leadership knew that Foley had shown an interest in a young man who is a Congressional page, and they did not let the local Boy Scout troop know that he would make a great new Scoutmaster. They find this intolerant. /sarc

The emails were wierd but innocuous, the FBI investigated in July and saw no crime. The IMs are disgusting and criminal. They have just popped up recently in dem activist hands. The scandal is that dems and complicit media are conflating the two. They want people to believe that disgusting and criminal IM's were known about and ignored to cover Foley.
