WASHINGTON TIMES ON TUESDAY WILL CALL FOR SPEAKER HASTERT'S RESIGNATION, NEWSROOM SOURCES TELL DRUDGE... DEVELOPING... Editorial titled: 'Resign, Mr. Speaker': 'House Speaker Dennis Hastert must do the only right thing, and resign his speakership at once... Mr. Hastert has forfeited the confidence of the public and his party, and he cannot preside over the necessary coming investigation, an investigation that must examine his own inept performance'... -- Washington Times, October 3, 2006...
Well, that's true, but the buck has to stop somewhere. Personally I wonder if Shimkus might bear a good deal of the blame. He was the one who conducted the "investigation" which consisted of asking Foley if he did anything wrong.
It's hard to pin the blame without knowing how this sort of thing usually works, but I would say Shimkus gets the majority of the blame for not investigating more to protect the House pages he was responsible for, and separately Hastert and Reynolds get the majority of another type of blame for the electoral problems this ended up causing the Republican Party -- possibly losing Foley's seat plus hurting the party nationally.
Also from my perspective, I wanted Hastert and Reynolds gone for other reasons before the Foley incident so .... obviously I still want them gone.
Just Lovely!!!
You didn't even bother to read the rest. Faking IM conversations is trivial and ABC hasn't shown that they verified anything. The only "evidence" we have of guilt is Foley's resignation.
Let's say for argument, that ABC says "oops, we were duped" sometime in late November. No one will care. Foley will still be thought of as a child molester. Democrats will gain seats in Congress. The media's little goof will be swept under the rug.
The only question is, why can't Republicans conduct this good of a smear campaign?
You really are delusional.
You're right. The numbers are probably way too low.
"Well, that's true, but the buck has to stop somewhere."
How about just impeach Bush while we're playing along with Dem scandals? Maybe every Republican should resign over failing to report Foley a year ago. They had to have contact with him sometime in the last 2 years.
I enjoy watching a bit of Glen Beck. And I do try to avoid H&C......all in all there is nothing worth while on TV.
We cannot let the media lie and misrepresent every story.
It's up to us to set the record straight and not fall prey to hysterics.
Anyone know if they too were sitting on this or went with it immediately?
Agreed !
Two kids. One with IMs. One with emails. Solution to your dilemma.
Lot of mouth coming from an editorial writer whose owner and master engages in forced marriages between young girls and old f*rtz.
If ABC sat on it, God help them.
There may be a progression in the cruising style adopted by Foley, but we have two kids and two different sets of communiation, each of a substantially different nature.
Betcha' Nancy Pelosi wasn't clear about the sequence, or the nature, either. Woman's so naive ~ thinks we don't see her 15 facelifts either.
Why are they timestamped? Well, the fellow who concocted those IMs thought to do that. Now this doesn't mean Foley didn't send IMs of similar nature to somebody (or a bunch of somebodies), but it is entirely possible these IMs are of "recent vintage", a la Dan Rather's memos to the record.
Seriously! Yall don't think that those kids were told that if they know what is good for them they will claim ignorance and make no further comment other than to say no one warned them?
It's called GOP CYA.
Soros is probably on a date ~ (he's in his 80s).
By that age I'd already learned to go into precincts after the election and "change the votes" (among other things), and steal campus elections outright through "stealth candidates".
Fellow with whom I participated in campus politics went on to fame in the Nixon administration by drawing up plans to do black bag jobs on every embassy in Washington.
Don't be so naive.
