Drip, Drip, Drip of Foley Messages Part of Calculated Campaign?

Day One: Suspicious-but-not-explict emails.

Day Two: Explicit instant messages, but no evidence Foley met with boys.

Day Four: Instant message indicating Foley was indeed seeking to meet and possibly had already met with a boy.

Foley deserves what he's gotten and what is likely to come. But it seems increasingly plausible that the timed release of information - of ever-increasing seriousness - is part of a calculated campaign to keep the story in the news and inflict the maximum amount of political damage on the GOP.

That would seem the logical inference in light of the latest information promulgated this afternoon by ABC News. An article written by Brian Ross and Maddy Sauer, E-mails Show Foley Sought to Rendezvous with Page, contains the text of an instant message session in which Foley expressly tells a boy "I want to see you." Foley also mentions "I miss you a lot since San Diego," suggesting that perhaps they had already met.

When Ross' source provided him the first email, isn't it likely that he already had the more graphic instant messages in his possession? But dumping everything on day one would have reduced the number of news cycles of front page coverage.

This story has obviously destroyed Foley's professional career. It might inflict wider damage on the GOP. But if it turns out that political partisans were behind a carefully-timed disclosure campaign, it's not hard to imagine a serious backlash on the Democrats.

Lemme see if I understand the Foley brouhaha because I'm kind of confused?!?
  1. Foley is a KNOWN GAY by his fellow congress critters.
  2. Foley sent some "creepy" emails to male pages after they left D.C.
  3. Said pages were aprrox. 16 to 17 years old which is the age of consent in most states.
  4. The Gay Foley then sent lurid IMs to the pages.
  5. The RATS who 'support' Gays and promote all their agenda found out about Foley's actions from ABC news.
  6. Said RATS, are instrumental in passage of Hate Crimes against gays, discrimination against gays and 'gay bashing' in any manner or form.
  7. Said RATS also support all manner of LGBT clubs in High Schools across the USA.
  8. These same RATS are a okay with the homosexual lifestyle being promoted in ELEMENTARY schools. Like, "Jill and Jill went up the hill to munch a bunch of carpet".
  9. However - these same RATS are now in an uproar over the Gay Congress critter Foley's actions and his apparent attempt at having consensual relations or 'cyber sex' with "young adults" .
  10. BUT - Said RATS also demand that girls as young as 13 be able to get abortion on demand.
  11. The aforementioned RATS also fight like hell so that the parents of said 13 yo girl NOT be notified of the abortion.
  12. Sex with a 13 year old - in ANY state of the USA, is RAPE. But this 'little technicality' doesn't bother the RATS one iota.

So what is the Democrat's problem? Foley did nothing that 30% of their constituency doesn't do. And he sure the hell didn't RAPE a 13 year old girl, get her pregnant and force her to have an abortion.

Wait a sec .. maybe that's why they're so p*ssed off?!?

It's a felony to engage in sexual conversations with monors, which Foley's IM's seem to be, inasmuch as they discuss masturbation techniques and slipping off the 16-year old's pants.

I am a little confused. Wasn't it about six years ago there was a rumor he was a homosexual?

6. Rep. Bill Baker (CA-10) vs. newcomer Ellen Tauscher. At a Baker speech, a heckler in the audience forces his way to the front of the crowd. Baker leaves the stage to tell the heckler to leave. Tauscher edits footage of this into a campaign ad making it look like Baker was lunging wildly at the heckler. Baker lost the election in a solid GOP district.

Isn't it classic? The very first comment on the DU thread reads "So the Freeps are excusing his child predator habits?"

I have seen no conservative on this thread or elsewhere excuse Foley. To the contrary, most express a view similar to the one I did in my original post - which the DUer apparently failed to read - that "Foley deserves what he's gotten and what is likely to come."

I suppose they figure it was the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy who leaked the messages to ABC.

It seems pretty clear the 'drip, drip, drip' is designed to keep this in the news as long as possible. They have the chat logs, so they've had all the info from the get-go.

Not too many things slimier than an MSM reporter.

Hello,

You would not believe the St. Louis local conservative radio hosts, they are ready to completely kick out all Reps, period. They have totally bought into that the Rep. Leadership knew and knew for years, covering up a pervert. It is hard to listen to, to say the least. Talent is in a close race here, and I am concerned.

Glad to be here, MOgirl

By tomorrow morning they'll have convinced themselves this is backfiring and get all paranoid again....or,IOW, if you're a DUmmie...back to normal. I'm guessing they'll be right, too. It may very well backfire, and they should be paranoid. We kick the bums out. They keep bringing their bums back.I'm not worried, just yet. After all, they have Pelosi, Reid, and Dean. We have Rove and Diebold.

Sure, there *could* have been some entrapment. Sure, who keeps 5 year old IM conversations? On the other hand, who the heck keeps jizz-stained dresses?

Using this logic, Rasheeda Moore was a GOP plant (the girl with whom Hizzonor Marion Berry was smoking crack with) and so was Monica Lewinsky.

Monica and the other IM party are examples of sexual temptation that powerful politicians are unable/unwilling to resist. On one side, Monica was an adult, but on the other side, Clinton did lie to America on national TV.

If all Hastert and other GOP leaders knew were the emails and it is established then the damage might be isolated to the FL-1 compartment, much as the Abramoff damage seems to be localized instead of generalized.

Otherwise, the GOP is taking a hit below the waterline and taking on water fast.

I haven't suggested entrapment. Foley clearly seems to have a pattern of bad behavior. He got into it on his own - no help needed. I'm simply suggesting that the way the story is being slowly doled out suggests it could be part of a campaign calculated to inflict maximum damage on the GOP.

Its work for Democrats but Republican will never get away with it. Works for Democrats and most of the Kennedy's, B. Frank and R. Byrd. Sure it double standards. They give Democrats the stuff to go after them along with Media. When they let Dems get by with Murder.

If the GOP leadership covered things up, they will lose in five weeks.

I will go so far as to say there may be a Christian third party formed in the aftermath. If this third party is at all concerned with social justice issues as opposed to only caring about gays and abortion, it may get a large number of disaffected black and Catholic Democrats.

There are five more weeks. Remember in 1992 there were useless Iran-Contra indictments handed own the Saturday before the election.
