Update 2: Pennsylvania Police: Amish School is 'Horrendous Crime Scene' After Shooting
NICKEL MINES, Pa. At least two female students and one slightly older female who may have been a teacher's aide were shot and killed execution style in what police say may be a revenge killing for something that happened 20 years ago.
State Police Commissioner Jeffrey Miller said Monday that truck driver Charles Carl Roberts IV entered the one-room Amish schoolhouse in earlier in the day. The gunman brought in pieces of wood to board up the doors to the building when he entered the school. He also stacked desks against the building's doors.
"It appears that the suspect entered school with the intention of taking hostages," Miller said.
Roberts had wire ties and plastic flex cuff, which he used to begin tying the hostages feet together after they were lined up along a blackboard. He let go 15 male students, as well as one adult female who was pregnant. Three other non-student females with infants were also allowed to leave. One shotgun and one handgun was found next to the suspect when police entered the building.
"It seems as though he wanted to attack young, female victims," Miller said.
After a half hour inside, Roberts began shooting. When the gunfire stopped, three females were found shot dead at the scene, along with the suspect, who shot himself, Miller said. At least seven more victims some critically wounded were transported to nearby hospitals, he said. One victim, a young girl, died in the arms of a trooper, Miller said. He could not confirm how many people died en route or at the hospital. The county coroner earlier reported six children killed but then backed off of that statement.
No doubt! That makes me want to go thru the screen whenever they refer to rapists, thieves, murderers, MASS KILLERS, etc., etc. as a "gentleman"...totally stupid!
No, I stated my opinion.
I'll answer you this then I'll leave this thread. They'd have to drag my lifeless body from the room before I'd leave my little girl behind.
So that you won't have to scroll back through the entire thread..........the Mods have requested that we NOT blame the teacher, nor the Amish community for the evil deeds of this man.
You're welcome. I wish that I didn't have to keep bearing news of these horrific stories...
Nothing wrong with having an opinion, but in this case the moderators have ruled that any and all posts placing blame on the adults or the police are banned from this thread.
Back up and read the thread, and play by the rules.
Unless you've ever been threatened by a madman with a gun, you have no place to say, "I would have done blah-blah-blah..."
If the teacher had been armed she might have been able to stop this slaughter - that's the only thing that would have been effective! It's time that we got rid of this PC Crap and armed teachers, principals, etc so that our children aren't sitting ducks for all the crazies to kill at will.
You are a very wise person.
scroll back and you'll see posts removed that fit yours
This teacher is Amish. They are as far from "PC" as one can get.
Thanks
I have had enough . Boys are told to leave and little girls held. Why? We teach them to fight, grab, kick, scream...do anything they can but don't let someone put you in a car. It's time IMO to teach them to fight back in hostage situations too. I am so angry.
If the teacher had been armed, it would have been for hunting purposes. The Amish do not shoot people, even in self defense.
Agreed.
But unfortunately state law dictates that they can't have guns in schools! I wasn't blaming the Amish....I'm blaming the legislators - Federal, state and local for putting our children at risk.
I understand, but the Amish are not going to teach their children to confront violence with violence. It ain't gonna happen.
They used to not. We'll see.
Oh, give it a rest. Sick and evil people existed before Islam and exist outside it. By seeing al Qaeda behind every tree, you're giving those [expletive deleted]s the credit and the power they so desperately want.
Come to think of it, I see a commercial opportunity here. If I could find the time to write books blaming Muslims for the murder of Lizzie Borden's parents, the Lindbergh baby kidnapping, the murder of JonBenet Ramsey, the murder of Nicole Simpson, bird flu, and the alleged stingray attack on Steve Irwin, I'd have a ready-made audience. If I could just unburden myself from this pesky habit of leaning on facts and logic, I might have a profitable little cottage industry.
How can we teach our children to fight bullets? These kids were 6-13 years old.
I feel sick, I'm angry, but the fact is these kids & other "adults" had no options. That evil man had all the power.
