A Yellow Cab Co. driver told police he shot and killed a man Saturday night who had robbed him and then had tried to put him in the trunk of his cab.
The shooting victim was identified Sunday as Roderick McGraw, 52, of Pinson, said Lt. Henry Irby of the Birmingham Police Department.
The death is the city's 84th homicide of 2006, compared to 76 at this time last year.
The taxi driver was questioned and released Saturday pending a review by the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office, Irby said.

The shooting victim was identified Sunday as Roderick McGraw, 52 I'd like it better if they called him the "dead perpetrator" rather than the "shooting victim."
If his guy was out jacking cabbies at the age of 52, he is obviously an incorrigible career criminal. He may have committeed hundreds of serious violent crimes over the years. About time someone took out the trash!

"Homocide"?I call it self defense. It's both. Homocide is simply the killing of one person by another. It isn't the same as murder.
I do agree that the reporter shows his left leanings by the words he chose -"homocide" and "victim"

Hi All- The term "homicide" is technically the correct (if liberal-leaning) choice of word and "victim" was obviously selected because the reporter wants to take a swipe at the use of a firearm. The writer could have easily stated:
"The criminal was shot dead by a legally-armed citizen defending his life."
The media elites remain liberal until it is their fat in the fire. Their hypocrisy is unreal. ~ Blue Jays ~
