NOTE: Mark Foley should have resigned earlier and should be prosecuted to the full extend of the law.

- Farrar thrust himself through the open window and into the car. Looking up, he found the body of a young woman. Her head was cocked back, her face pressed into the footwell. Both hands gripped the front edge of the back seat to hold herself in conformity with its upholstered contours. It was not the position assumed by a person knocked unconscious by the impact of a crash, Farrar said. "If she had been dead or unconscious, she would have been prone, sinking to the bottom or floating on top. She definitely was holding herself in a position to avail herself of the last remaining air that had to be trapped in the car." - Farrar took hold of the woman's thigh, and as soon as he touched the body he knew she was dead; the flesh in his hand was hard as wood. "Instead of life-saving, I realized I was now evidence-gathering," Farrar said. "Because I was the only person who would be able to observe this situation, it behooved me to pay attention to what I saw underwater to be able to report it."

In the furor over the disgraced GOP congressman Mark Foley, let's go back in time, shall we? Don't you just love the headline that GOP leaders knew of some Foley email in late 2005?
It was July 19, 1969 when the drunken Ted Kennedy, possessing no current drivers license, drove his Oldsmobile off the bridge, ran away like a coward, and left Mary Jo Kopechne to suffocate when the oxygen ran out in her air pocket.
The Democrat leaders at the time were Senate Majority Leader Mike Mansfield of Montana and Speaker of the House John McCormack of Boston, Mass.
There is no doubt they knew what happened. We didn't have email in those days. Kennedy did not send an email to Mary Jo. He killed her. He did no jail time. There was a coverup. He paid off the family.
Republican Mark Foley is gone, albeit not quickly enough, because our side won't stand for that kind of behavior. The Democrats, on the other hand, have allowed a killer to remain as a leading senator for over 40 years.
The smartest thing Foley could have done was to immediately switch parties. The gay fascists would have defended him and called this drama a witch hunt. He could have probably even stayed in office if he drove a page off a bridge and kept his body and $90,000 bribe money in his freezer.
Just as we watched the drunken failed lifeguard killer lead the way on complaints of waterboarding, it would be so fitting for Barney Frank to lead an investigation of Foley's activities. Maybe Nancy Pelosi could lead an investigation of plastic surgeons who ruin their patients' faces.
Thanks for the history of this jerk, but as in the past, like Studds, he'll be there til he decides to retire.....or maybe til he drives off a bridge again and doesn't get out?
kENNEDY SHOULD HAVE SERVED JAIL TIME FOR MANSLAUGHTER. aNYONE ELSE WHO COMMITTED THIS CRIME WOULD HAVE.

Laws Involving Contact With Minors Allow Prosecutors a Broad Range of Discretion
"Though the messages made public to date stopped short of soliciting sex or proposing an assignation, some were quite graphic and asked for descriptions of intimate actions. Several states, including Florida, have laws that make it a crime to transmit communication harmful to minors over the Internet."
HBO's Real Sex and MTV's programming both are harmful to minors. Any calls to reel them in are met with censorship cries. When someone can say something to someone else in person or by phone but not over the internet, there is a different standard being applied because of the medium of the conversation.
"And Mr. Foley is not the only person who could possibly face prosecution, Professor Berman said. If there were people who knew about him or protected him, he said, some sort of complicity or conspiracy charge is certainly viable." <--- That's the rub. It isn't about taking out Foley or seeing him prosecuted. It is about using this as a muguffin to go after GOP leadership.
This is how my piece began. There is no defense of Foley: NOTE: Mark Foley should have resigned earlier and should be prosecuted to the full extend(sp) of the law.
If the most ridiculous attempt at making the dems look bad that you have witnessed is the spotlight on a man who killed a woman, got away with it, and led the fight against "water torture," you have indeed led a sheltered life. Sorry, but your statement is simply foolish. Let's see your attempt. Do you have a better one than killing a young woman, doing no jail time, keeping your prestigious public job for four decades, being a leader of the party, and never paying any price? I can't wait to hear it. The only thing that comes close is KKK Byrd, but I don't think there is a verified record of him killing anyone.
Can't we discuss ANYTHING without using the caveat, "I am not a communist but ..."
I mean, "I don't support Foley's actions, but..."
What proof do you have that this was a murder? You don't! The police investigated the incident and found nothing there. Believe me if there was a murder he would have had trial and had to state his case. Where are you from anyway?

>What are the ethical standards for a homosexual politician?<
For one, to have boyfriends who are of age.
No, you totally misunderstood my comment. I saw your first disclaimer.
I was responding to everyone who reads your Ted stuff and says, yeah, but that doesn't excuse Foley.
I shouldn't admit this, but I have a faint memory of the McCarthy era wherein one could not defend anyone who was defamed by Joe without first inserting the phrase, "I am not a communist but ..."
I was a dem in those days (in my crib) but I have this memory.
16 IS of age in DC.
Okay, I understand.
Ditto. I don't think references to 40 year old crimes is going to help the GOP in this case.
>16 IS of age in DC.<
That's pathetic. So a 60 year old man can hit on a 16 year old girl in DC. I guess this is one of Marion Barry's legacies.
