MINNEAPOLIS // Cabdriver Muhamed Mursal doesn't wear his Muslim beliefs on his sleeve, but he may soon broadcast them from a light atop his cab. Mursal and hundreds of other Muslim cabdrivers at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport refuse to take customers they know are carrying alcohol. They don't search bags, but a wine box may be enough to leave a fare waiting for the next cab. Advertisement Now, they may be required to buy different colored lights to sit atop their cabs so airport workers who hook up travelers with taxis can steer alcohol-carrying fares to cabs that will take them. The proposal needs approval from the airport's taxi cab advisory committee, and airport officials hope to have the lights ready by year's end. Cabbies without the light who refuse fares will be sent to the back of line -- often a three-hour wait until it's their turn again for a fare. Some drivers said they'd rather wait for another fare than risk punishment in the afterlife. "It is forbidden in Islam to carry alcohol," Mursal said. Airport spokesman Pat Hogan said the first refusals to carry alcohol began 10 years ago, but came from just a handful of drivers. Now, though, he estimates that three-quarters of the 900 airport cabdrivers are Somali, most of them Muslim. Hogan said drunken passengers haven't had trouble getting a cab, just the ones who let on that they're carrying a bottle. He said, "It's slowly grown over the years to the point that it's become a significant customer service issue for us." "They're really kind of imparting their religious views on the public," said Katie Patterson of McKinley, Texas.

Yet, Muslims can refuse service to law abiding citizens because of THEIR religous beliefs. It seems that the Muslim faith is being held higher in it's "rights" than any other here in America. Yes, it seems we have lost the ideological war regarding religion right here in the great(used to be) USA. If this is allowed to stand, we may all want to buy our prayer rugs and learn where to face while praying. Maybe those in GITMO will be welcome here on our mainland sooner than we think. As things have been, if someone sues the Muslim cabbies, they may want to wear a steel collar to avoid having their throats cut.
They should be boycotted. Request non-muzzie cab drivers.
Travellers should carry something interesting to leave in the cab of any such driver, such as a little rubber piggy.
Have they refused to carry those folks wearing skull caps yet?
Today, no alcohol carrying passengers allowed. Tomorrow, no Jews or other infidels allowed in the cabs.
I like it!
I could not have said it better myself.
Pull their licenses and/or permits.

Lights identify the Muslim drivers also . SOOOOOOOOOOOO don't use a Muslim cab driver as you would boycott Citgo.
Garlic : Vampire = Jack Daniels : Muslim?
Of course, if intolerant people are tolerated, but tolerant Westerners are discriminated against, then the planet must inevitably move in the direction of an intolerant theocracy which oppresses women, kills Jews and homosexuals and punishes atheists, Christians and other unbelievers.
The sensible conclusion is that if you really want to be accepting of a diverse group of people -- then you must make sure that Muslims do NOT have a place at the table.
I think this is a great idea. This way, I'll know which cabs to boycott so my money doesn't go towards funding the next terrorist attack.
