Foley and the Blame Game
The American Thinker ^ | Oct 1. 2006 | clarice Feldman

Posted on 10/01/2006 8:58:50 AM PDT by the Real fifi

Pardon me, but I smell something very peculiar in the way we have learned of the disgrace of Rep. Mark Foley.

The email scandal which led to the resignation of the Republican Congressman is reverberating throughout the capital and the nation, as Democrats attempt to capitalize on bad news for Republicans. The seamiest of the released emails, which Foley has not denied, are right up there with Rhodes Scholar and Illinois Democratic Congressman Mel Reynolds’ taped phone conversations lusting for 15 year old Catholic school girls in their uniforms

How old was that kid? (clearly gay) was he a page?

was he a hustler?

How do pages receive/obtain their appointment as pages? This page was in Rep. Rodney Alexander's district according to the story. Alexander is a lifelong dem who turned pubbie 15 minutes before the quialifying period for the primary?/election was over. I smell a rat. Was this a setup from start to finish? No. I am not excusing Foley ... he never should have qualified to run for congress in the first place if proper vetting had been in place. And, that is not homophobic at all. They are always vulnerable and always a potential liability. That's all. Otherwise I care not a whit for what they do.

If you enjoy being played for a sucker by Dem dirty tricksters, go to it..but don't come back moaning about what life under a Dem government looks like. You'll deserve what you get.

For rational people this is an all stink no think "scandal".

Rational people see this as solicitng sex from a minor. Rational people don't want elected officials to get away with commiting crimes. Rational people don't scapegoat democrats when their favorites get caught with their hand up the cookie jar. Rational people don't come back on a poster who admitted a mistake and apologized. But you're not rational, are you?

The emails Hastert knew of were NOT soliciting sex from a minot.

Of course, rational people do not want elected officials to get away with committing crimes, but can you tell me what crimes were committed? The initial correspondence involved an innocuous exchange with a 16 year old who under D.C. law is not considered a minor. We have no idea about the age of the correspondents in the steamier exchanges which Hastert did not see, but as one talks of college I think it's safe to say we are not talking about a minor.

I apologize if I offended you, but you must see if you allow yourselves to be driven from supporting the party by these "all stink no think" stories, you can expect to see ginned up stuff like this over and over and over again.

How likely is the ABC story that overnight after it printed the innocuous emails, they received the salacious IM's dated years before? Not very, I say. And what does that mean? To me it means that if those are true, people held on to evidence that would have forced the leadership to remove and replace Foley and protect other pages for purely political reasons. Think about THAT.

WILLIAM JEFFERSON (D-LA)

Why is this indicted congress person STILL WALKING FREE AROUND THE CAPITAL BUILDING.

I don't see the media salivating over this guy who took bribes and then USED OUR MILITARY to ferry him out of LA with his bribery loot in his refrigerator.

It's the usual .. only the repubs are constantly harassed - but the dems always get a free ride. I'm sick of it.

It's so bad I can't even watch FOX today because it's nonstop Foley every other word out of their mouths.

Just think, last week it was the NIE report.
Those hopes were dashed when POTUS declassified the report and now they're going to Woodward's book and this fantasy of a GOP cover up for Foley.

LOL. The Dems are speeding thru the scandals.

They keep throwing them up hoping one of them will stick. Unfortunately, they're sticking for less and less time these days.

You don't excuse or explain away this crime by telling me the dems didn't dump Franks. When you have the responsibility, you have to step up and do the right thing, not say "Well they got away with it."

Well stated.

LOL -- that's precisely what they're doing. Foley has resigned. All that's left is to TRY to entrap Hastert and that won't work.

Not an email scandal, this is an INSTANT MESSAGING SCANDAL.

It is so tough dealing with the ingnorance of reporters. Have they even mastered the difference between pencil and ball point pen?

I know .. Rush was talking about it on Friday .. saying it's Woodward's usual book which comes out at election time.

I still believe he wrote it to get back in the good graces of the liberal set after having written two books which favored the Bush admin.

Yes, that will last another 1-2 days.

Lets see...32 days or so before elections.

Average of 1-2 days each scandal. So I guess the Dems have 16 or so October Surprises yet to pull out of their hats. Will be fun to see what's next.
