On October 13, the story of Esther comes to the movies! "One Night With The King" stars Tiffany Dupont, James Callis and Luke Goss. John Rhys-Davies plays Mordecai.
If you don't know the story of Esther, it is a picture of tremendous courage. She faced execution by approaching her husband king without an invitation. But she was placed in a position to save her race, and she was willing to be used by God for a purpose higher than her own wealth and fame.
I encourage all FREEPers to see this movie, especially on opening weekend--so the theater owners will keep it around for a while. Perhaps it will encourage some to open their Bibles and their hearts to the Lord.
As a political aside, the story also reminds us that the perverted desire to eradicate Jews from the planet is centuries old...and those of us who love freedom are called to join the battle!

On Oct. 13th? Very Interesting! Wasn't it on the 13th of the month when this Jewish queen mother type saved her people from annihilation from the Persian king type?
ty·pol·o·gy (t-pl-j)
n. pl. ty·pol·o·gies
1. The study or systematic classification of types that have characteristics or traits in common.
2. A theory or doctrine of types, as in scriptural studies.
Ahasuerus, having rid himself of Vashti, chose Esther to be his wife and queen. Soon after this he gave Haman the Agagite, his prime minister, power and authority. Haman, without the king's knowledge, plans to kill and extirpate all the Jews throughout the Persian empire. This attempted genocide was averted when Esther reveals this to the king and the king gives the Jews license to defend themselves against all who try to kill them. The king orders Haman and his 10 sons to be hanged on the gallows, just as Haman had planned for Mordecai. The fight begins on the 13th of Adar and thousands lost their lives from both sides across the empire, the other side being enemies of the Jews from various nations.
It is also possible that the name Esther is derived from Ishtar, Akkadian for the Evening Star. The Targum provides another Midrashic explanation claiming that she was as beautiful as the Evening Star, which is astara in Greek. According to the Book of Esther she was a Jewish woman originally named Hadassah. When she entered the royal harem she received the name Esther by which she was henceforth known. Hadassah means "myrtle" in Hebrew and the name Esther is most likely related to the Median word for myrtle, astra, and the Persian word setareh meaning star the myrtle blossom resembles a twinkling star.
Some obscure modern Catholic prophecies relate the typology of Esther to the Virgin Mary and the apparitions at Fatima in 1917. On most Fatima statues you can see a star at the hem of her dress which is supposed to be a hidden reference. The apparitions at Fatima happened on the 13th of the month. The last apparition was on Oct. 13th 1917. Seventy thousand people showed up because the virgin said God would perform a miracle. Many people saw the sun dance in the sky and their were medically documented healings that took place.
Just yesterday, I was pleased to learn that one of the theaters playing "One Night With the King" will be the one nearest to my house! I was so glad to see that! I'd imagine the movie will be pretty good.
