This is an important election. Its so important that Im not calling Kerry Healey Muffy anymore.
Two words sum up why this fight is so serious: Mike Dukakis.
Deval Patrick is Mike Dukakis without the tank helmet.
Pee Wee Dukakis, as we used to call him, was quoted last week as saying all the Democratic candidates came to see him, but Deval listened.
Think about that. Pee Wee was referring to his advice to Deval on building an organization of idle, rich moonbats, but the fact is, Dukakis spoke and . . . Deval listened.
No one has listened to Mike Dukakis since 1988, for good reason. Because Pee Wee came close to ruining this state, while listening to only two people - Kitty Dukakis and Billy Bulger, both of whom he was very afraid of, for different reasons.
And now Deval kisses the ring of House Speaker Sal DiMasi, a mob mouthpiece for 20 years, starting with Joe Yerardi, who was in Billy Bulgers brothers gang. Deja vu, anyone?
And did I mention that both Kitty Dukakis and Billy Bulger have ponied up cash for Deval? What do they know that we dont - yet?
Its clear the Dukakis-Bulger gang and what remains of their scurvy crew see Deval as the Restoration. These last 16 years have been but an interregnum, and now comes the ascension of the Dukes dauphin, Deval.

From the polls I've seen, Patrick is going to win. Ugh.
Wow, that's frightening. I didn't really pay any attention to any of the Dem primary candidates, and didn't know much about Deval. I always planned to vote for Kerry Heally, but unfortunately, I think she's unelectable. Her campaign ads all talk about what a great mother she is, and while that's admirable, it doesn't exactly make her qualified to be governor.
By mocking Healey with his "Muffy" routine, Howie Carr has contributed to the likely victory of Patrickk.
The Free Republic "Massachusetts" Page today also has some additional info on Deval Patrick.
"Deval Patrick is Mike Dukakis without the tank helmet."
No - he's Karl Marx without the beard.
Why does anyone live in Massachusetts?
Some people - born and raised here - don't have either the cash or the job mobility to leave. When your roots go deep over decades and generations, it can be wrenching. All one's friends and habitual "hang-outs" are here. Put a frog in a pot of cold water and turn on the heat etc. etc. etc. That's four reasons; I'm sure there are others.
They won't much longer. Mass is losing population at an alarming rate.
> No - he's Karl Marx without the beard.
Deval is as ridiculously liberal as Dukakis, but Howie misses the point entirely. Deval isn't listening to Dukakis; nobody listens to Dukakis anymore. Deval is a clinton lackey, and he is a part of the clinton legacy, along with the other alums of the most corrupt administration in history (Hillary, Emmanuel, Richardson, etc.) who have since gotten elected. I have no doubt that the clinton spin team is pulling Deval's strings. And that, plus his leftist ideology, makes him the most dangerous politician in Massachusetts.
Christy Mihos stood his ground when he was on the Turnpike Authority, and I admire him for that. But he's got to take a good hard look at dropping out and throwing his support behind Healey.
I live here because it has probably the best climate (all four seasons are properly represented), the best medical care, the best colleges, easy access to New Hamphire/Vermont/Maine (probably the best places in the country to take a vacation and I can go there for weekends), the best public libraries, a lot of historical places to visit, and on and on.
In the summer time, I can go to the beach on muggy days and get steamed clams by the quart, in the fall, I can walk through miles of trails through foliage-packed woods on crisp, cool mornings, in the winter I can sit by the fireplace with a good book and a strong beverage. Just for starters.
IN fact, if it wasn't for the politics, Massachusetts could well be the perfect place to live.
But it's very expensive. That will be the reason if I ever leave.
"Why does anyone live in Massachusetts?" I agree with the other posters. I grew up in Boston and went to college there. Got married, had kids, and moved to southern NH when the kids were little. Great place to raise a family and Boston is only an hour away. Southern NH is booming and so is RI on the MA border. MA has the jobs, but the real estate prices, the crime, the politics, etc. are driving people out...
