" While Danish milk products were dumped in the Middle East, fervent rightwing Americans started buying Bang & Olufsen stereos and Lego. In the first quarter of this year Denmarks exports to the US soared 17%.
The British writer Christopher Hitchens organised a buy-Danish campaign. Among the thousands of emails sent to Rose was one from an American soldier serving in Iraq. He told me he was sitting in Iraq, watching a game of football and drinking a can of Carlsberg, Rose said.
Rose is not the only person to have prospered from the crisis. Re-elected last year, Mr Rasmussen last week became Denmarks longest-serving Liberal prime minister. Danish troops are still in Iraq and Afghanistan. More than this, his sceptical line on immigration appears to have been vindicated as other EU countries follow suit. "
This article is a good example of how twisted the discourse on this issue has become. Apparently, the Guardians viewpoint is that only fervent rightwingers could actually support Denmarks battle for free speechwhen it would be difficult to find a more liberal cause than the right to free expression.
The subheadline for the articles another howler:
One year on, protagonists have few regrets despite deaths of more than 139 people.
As if the Danes should regret violence and murder they did not perpetrate.
Why do Guardian writers never seem to think the raging Muslim mobs need to regret anything?
" How one of the biggest rows of modern times helped Danish exports to prosper . "

Amazing. For publishing cartoons, the Danes are resposible for the deaths of Islamistic lunatics?
Liberals have friggen' completely lost their collective minds. There is no other possible assessment.
Gee, I can't POSSIBLY imagine why...
I feel trapped in some kind of alternative Orwellian universe where the truth is hate and complete and utter bullsh** passes for logic and reason.
Now I am hungry.
Why do Guardian writers never seem to think the raging Muslim mobs need to regret anything?
Because the modern liberal thinks all of the world's ills are the fault of American/Western values.
I did my very small part and am seeking some Danish cheeses in my shopping.
If you like blue cheese, I recommend the various Danish brands, especially now that Roquefort is out of bounds.
Danish butter cookies here.
:-)
Love our like thinking Americans. Missed the pro-Denmark protest here in NYC.
Will definitely make the next one and in the interim, have a Carlsberg.
Enjoy the Elephant!
fervent rightwing Americans ...
The British writer Christopher Hitchens ...

Gouda and what else ?
I love cheese, but cheese doesn't love me.............well, maybe it does cause it tends to stay with me all the time.......
I don't think of that as right wing, but I guess the nanny staters do.
Ok...?
