I can't do the timestamp thing on purpose, but have seen it happen hundreds of times over the 10 years I've been IMing. I think what causes it is a slight split second delay in the relay servers in conjunction with someone who is a fast typer and sent messages a second or less apart. It happens often.

Most "regular" Rs could give a rat's *** if someone is homosexual if the said homosexual (a) keeps it to him/herself and (b) promotes solid convervative values and causes.

The Log Cabin [Faux] Republicans' purpose is to change the GOP into a "gay rights" promoting GOP.

Do I investigate peoples' sex life or lack thereof before supporting them? No. If they make a fuss about it do I care? Yes.

" is the FLGOP going to be able to replace Foley, or is it too late to pull a "Torricelli"?"

I don't know, but Florida has one of the latest primaries in the nation, so maybe the GOP can do that.

There have been numerous threads about the Log Cabin Rs as well as the lie that Lincoln was homosexual. Their assertion that Lincoln was a closeted "gay" is based entirely on the fact that he shared a bed with another man at rented lodgings. Actually during colonial times on up that was a common practice. Beds were scarce and people put up with lack of privacy in order to sleep in a bed.

That is their sole piece of "evidence". Actually, it is a stated tactic (if you want I can dig out my source) of homosexual activists - to "out" dead people as homosexual when the person is no longer around to defend himself.

The Associated Press - 25 Jul 95

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -- Jon Hinson, the conservative Mississippi congressman who became a gay rights activist after a morals charge cut short his promising political career, is dead at age 53.
Hinson died Friday at his home in Silver Spring, Md. He died of respiratory failure resulting from AIDS, said his friend, Kate McQueen of Washington, D.C.

Hinson rose from relative political obscurity to win Mississippi's 4th Congressional District seat in 1978 as a conservative Republican. He succeeded Thad Cochran, who was elected that year to the Senate.

Hinson resigned April 13, 1981, early in his second term, after being arrested in a men's restroom in a federal building on Capitol Hill on an oral sodomy charge. He was taken into custody along with a male Library of Congress employee.

Hinson said at the time that his resignation had been "the most painful and difficult decision of my life."

He later publicly acknowledged his homosexuality and became active in the gay-rights movement. He helped organize the lobbying group "Virginians for Justice" and fought against the ban on gays in the military. He also was a founding member of the Fairfax Lesbian and Gay Citizens Association in Fairfax County, Va.

A native of Tylertown, he never returned to his home state, but lived quietly in the Washington area, first in Alexandria, Va., and then Silver Spring.

Hinson won the second term despite his revelation that in 1976, while a Cochran aide, he was arrested on a charge of committing an obscene act. He also disclosed that he survived a 1977 fire that killed nine people at the Cinema Follies, a Washington theater that catered to a gay clientele. He was rescued from under a pile of bodies -- one of only four men that survived.

In an article last year for the Washington Blade, a gay newspaper, Hinson wrote that when first elected to Congress, he was "still closeted and into heavy denial."

Hinson's body was cremated and the ashes will be buried in his hometown following a private service. McQueen said a memorial service was being planned in Washington.

I didn't mean to "blast off". And you are right. I was not up to speed on the story. Seems it is much worse than what I heard in the very beginning.

Apparently, Foley had a 'good record' on gay issues and most gays are running from this crap like cats on a hot tin roof.....lol

If homosexuals would shut the **** up about their sex lives, and quit promoting so-called "gay rights", no one would know or care.

But such is not often the case.

"Delray Beach ain't in the district."

Good find, Torie.

I'm betting that if the GOP can pull a Torricelli here (and Florida has a late primary date), the the new nominee will be state Senator Jeff Atwater.

I am sad about this. Foley was a good congressman. He was accessible and always on the spot whenever issues arose in the West Palm Beach area. Unfortunately he goes and my bad congressman , Alcee Hastings, remains.

You still don't get it. You are suggesting that homosexuality shouldn't preclude one from such a high office because we don't vote for them to "be like us".

Well pal, that's EXACTLY why this country is now well and truly f**ked up. Of COURSE we should be electing people who feel and believe as we, the overWHELMING majority of their constituents, believe. Don't even attempt your absurd "moral/sexual equivalency" argument of homosexuality vs. heterosexual couples' sexual escapades. To deny that gays in this country have become militant, have outright taken over Hollywood and large portions of the entertainment industry directly catering to our kids, that they have managed to convince the weak-minded and rudderless (you know........people like you) that "gee golly it's all ok; we're swell and normal and you should like us and BE like us or be labeled a homophobe"...is either a sick joke or an indication of just how asleep you have been the last 20 years.

I'm going to stop now. You're just flat out pissing me off.
