Just breaking on CNN
No, but Gerry Studds had a "relationship" with a then 17-year-old male page in 1973. He was censured and re-elected 5 times.
No, quite often I suspect that some of the old timers are trolls too.
Me too. But good grief, we've given the D's two gimmies. DeLay's seat and this one.
I mean, I guess we could win DeLay's seat on a write in because it's so heavily R and we've been running a write-in campaign, but I'm still doubting it.
It sure gets a lot harder to win when you score for your opponent.
And Lindsey Graham, too, I'd guess.
Thanks. Sounds like Foley's name remains on the ballot, but a vote for Foley is a vote for the party's named replacement, as I read it.
I do not think that one book or thousands of books have ever affected the outcome of an election. In 2004 there were so many anti-Bush books and the liberal media parade the books and the authors 24/7 but still President Bush won.
Please see post #91
see the info in post 91, he sent IM's from his AOL account
"ABC News had read excerpts of instant messages provided by former pages who said the congressman, under the AOL Instant Messenger screen name Maf54, made repeated references to sexual organs and acts. "

Aint that a shame.
It's one thing to run hit pieces on a candidate over a position he/she took, it's another to destroy one's life and force him out of office just to run unopposed.
This is all about the Democrat's power grab at any cost.

States have to change laws. Texas has to make a more reasonable deadline (remember that the Torch deadline was only 60 days -- reasonable from the POV of ballot-printing) but I oppose these laws that force a person to run for office. Certainly the Dems have exploited this far too often.
If there wasn't truth to the insinuations, he wouldn't have resigned. I hate to say it, but I'm guessing this is the tip of the iceburg.
I've defended Foley in the past. There have always been rumors, but I chose to give him the benefit of the doubt, or at least believe that if he were gay, it was something he kept to himself.
However, this seems to substantiate them, and it probably loses us a seat.
Yes there was indeed. But NO man I know would ever type what was revealed yesterday to a 16yo relative stranger.
you have freepmail
So the Florida law does not all allow replacement of candidates?
I'll repeat my post of earlier this thread: He's immune - from mASSachusetts.
Yes, it hurts to even think about it.
So have they learned whether or not Foley has resigned, or just considering it?
-PJ
I think Katherine Harris may actually be a worse candidate than a post-outing Mark Foley. If not, it's certainly close.
