People think that IM is not saved. It's there forever and this is not the first time it has caught a predator.
I defended the man when learning of the original emails.......this is another story.
I am not one to condemn someone without proof. The IM story, if true, is more than enough to drive this man out of office and into jail.

there's no bloody way a gay is going to adequately reflect and vote according to the belief systems of the majority of his or her constituents. That's not what they are supposed to do. We are a representative republic, not a proxy democracy.

The fact that he dropped out might indicate a deeper current than the released e-mails indicate.

Under Florida law, Foley's name stays on the ballot for this election, which means that any new Republican candidate would almost certainly lose because they would be running under Foley's name. There will be a lot of desperate strategizing to try to get around that, but for now, it looks like the seat goes Dem.

It's not about the congressional seat, it's about a young boy being preyed upon.

Guy got railroaded. If you're being "railroaded" you don't resign.
Looks like indeed there was fire to go along with that smoke.

Say what you want about AOl but they have been pretty good about handing over IM logs when child sex is involved.

Yes it is, and he willfully did that. Any moron knows the risk in such emails, a risk NOONE in office should take.

To compare with McGreevy, Foley could have announced his resignation effective Jan 1.

When Wellstone died before the election, he was replaced after a court decision. Using that precedent, though not dead here, he may get replaced. Foley was in my district up untill about 2001 when the census changed and now I have Clay Shaw. He was always well liked here. He grew up in Lake Worth and was a restaurant owner. What a sad and sick way to go down in flames this way. This was considered a safe seat for many many years.
