Webb's comments to the Times-Dispatch prompted Allen campaign officials to direct a reporter to Dan Cragg, a former acquaintance of Webb's, who said Webb used the word while describing his own behavior during his freshman year at the University of Southern California in the early 1960s. Webb later transferred to the U.S. Naval Academy.
Cragg, 67, who lives in Fairfax County, said on Wednesday that Webb described taking drives through the black neighborhood of Watts, where he and members of his ROTC unit used racial epithets and pointed fake guns at blacks to scare them.
"They would hop into their cars, and would go down to Watts with these buddies of his," Cragg said Webb told him. "They would take the rifles down there. They would call then [epithets], point the rifles at them, pull the triggers and then drive off laughing. One night, some guys caught them and beat . . . them. And that was the end of that."

Wow. Just went there... the 'journalist', Charlie Jackson manages in one paragraph to slime and smear Allen, even tossing in the ex-tinguished Professor Larry Sabato to boot.
Well, we wouldn't want to see a video on CBS showing her passing a bong or laughing while others were partaking..that's for sure.
The WaPo is certainly showing it's agenda ...

Thanks. Eugene R does manage to insert a little tweak
"Perhaps helpfully for Allen, Webb now has an N-word problem of his own - he can't deny having used it, which amounts to an admission."
LOL and the 'Smith' just makes for the rest of the story.
I truly get a negataive and visceral response - I want to scream at these people - or worse. . . when I see someone driving a car with a "Kerry' or Algore message. . .proudly displaying their ignorance.
I surely appreciate the Freedom of it all. . .I just resent their choice. . .
Woah ... waiting for the WaPo to report this on A1.
From Something To Die For (James Webb):
"Fogarty...watch[ed] a naked young stripper do the splits over a banana. She stood back up, her face smiling proudly and her round breasts glistening from a spotlight in the dim bar, and left the banana on the bar, cut in four equal sections by the muscles of her vagina." -- P.36
Webb is a real class act. Not.
does she have a sister?
Check out post 45.
LOL ... no more bananas on my Cheerios.
Flora, you are right about posting it with a warning.

I like this one by someone named CavalierX
"What is it we always say? If you want to know what's in the mind of a Democrat, just wait and see what he accuses a Republican of thinking."
Is this supposed to be a negative? LOL
I grew up in SoCal during that time. Yes, some a$$hats did that--not only in Watts, but in parts of San Diego, California, as well. Yes, it was white-on-black. Yes, when they got caught, their victims would beat . . . them.
I'll have to get a copy of the book to my yellow-dog-but-strict-Baptist Dad - if the rest of it is as trashy as that section, he still won't vote for Allen, but he sure won't vote for Webb either.
He got that right. Which brings to mind something similar I've observed over the years: the most jealous accusatory spouses oftentimes have a hidden affair(s) in their past.
A "takes one to know one", hmmm?
