I'm fairly certain that Murtha's involvement in Abscam has been publicized in some detail on FR before. He was very fortunate to escape indictment, when some of his colleagues in the House had to resign.
Still a good idea to post this thing as another reminder of Murtha's shady past and sleazy character.
Well, no, ABSCAM isn't new.
However, the revelation that all previous accounts of Murtha's involvement understated his complicity is.
The video clips of Murtha negotiating with undercover FBI agents that the Spectator presents and analyzes here have never been seen by the public, and were thought to have been destroyed. This is a significant development.
The actual video can play either way... it reveals Murtha as very cleverly avoiding getting caught, while leaving the door open to shenanigans that aren't as obvious to catch.
