New Study Shows Pro-Choicers More Likely to Spread Violence

A new research project is raising serious doubt about claims from abortion supporters who say pro-lifers are violent people. The study suggests that, despite their assertions to the contrary, pro-choicers may be the more frequent perpetrators of violence.

Throughout the abortion debate in America, pro-abortion activists have accused pro-lifers of spreading violence; however, Human Life International's senior analyst, Brian Clowes, has just completed a project that suggests the complete opposite is the case. "Seven murders are carried out by so called pro-life people in the time period 1993 to 1998," he notes, "and yet we've documented over 500 murders done by people who are pro-choice."

Clowes documented those murders by pro-choicers in three categories: actual murders by abortionists and pro-choice advocates; men who killed their pregnant girlfriends and wives who refused to abort their babies; and other individuals who killed women because they were pregnant.

"For every single instance of so-called 'pro-life extreme violence' -- which is murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and arson -- we have 80 instances of pro-choice extreme violence," the researcher says. Meanwhile, he points out, "We have a lot of news media that's directed entirely towards talking about how pro-life people are supposed to be so violent, and the pro-choicers are all mild-mannered, nice people."

In other words, Clowes explains, "what we have here is a kind of imbalance" between the truth and the common perception. "And I'd like to try to balance this out, showing that the abortion culture is really violent in all of its aspects," he says. The details of Clowes research project have been made available online. You are correct: it is only the woman's choice, and that's part of the problem with the entire issue of abortion.

Obviously it takes two to create the unborn child (for this discussion, I'm omitting the cloning/petri dish pregnancies, etc). However, once the woman is pregnant, she alone has any say in whether the child lives or dies. If she wants it, the man must help support it; if she doesn't want it, she can abort it and he has no say in the matter. Even if he offers to raise the child and "let her get on with her life," that's too bad. Only the woman has "the right to choose."

I think the situation discussed in this story is that men want the women to have abortions and they want to have the babies, so the men murder the mother in order to kill the child. The opposite situation, mentioned above, is just as heinous, IMO, and also contributes to the American "culture of death."

Abortion Violence

On the other hand, whenever pro-abortionists kill or beat up pro-lifers or other people, the local media usually reports fairly on the incidents. However, the national and international news services usually consider such incidents beneath their notice. This means that interested parties must dig a little in order to find documented evidence of pro-abortion violence. It also means that almost everyone is astonished when they are told that pro-abortionists have committed nearly 500 murders since 1966 and an incredible 269 murders just since the year 2000 — and this does not include fatal botched abortions!
       Just a few of these murders are listed below.

•

In 1998, pro-abortionist Byron Looper, a county property assessor, was running for office against pro-life state Senator Tommy Burks. Looper shot Burks in the left eye with a heavy-caliber pistol near a pumpkin patch where Burks planned to take schoolchildren on a hayride that day, then boasted to his friends "I did it, man, I did it! I killed that dude!"

In 2001, Oklahoma City abortionist John Baxter Hamilton strangled his wife, beat her over the head with a heavy blunt object hard enough to smash a hole in her skull, and then slammed her face repeatedly onto the marble floor of the master bathroom in their home.

In 1995, pro-abortionist Lavern Ward killed Debra Evans, 28, and her daughter, Samantha (stabbed her death, the young girl had defensive wounds from trying to defend herself!), 10, then hacked the unborn child out of Debra Evan's body. He then abducted her son, Joshua, 7, and later (poisoned, strangled and THEN) stabbed him to death. He was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder.

In 1996, 29-year-old pro-abortionist Mark Boyd hired a hit man to kill his 15-year-old girlfriend, Kyunia Taylor, as she rode home on a school bus. Kyunia's baby, named Diamond, was delivered three months premature and died 23 days after Kyunia's murder.

In 1993, Huntsville, Alabama pro-abortion activist Eileen Orstein Janezic murdered 51-year old pro-life activist minister and radio talk show host Jerry Simon. After shooting Simon through a window of his home, she held police at bay with a pistol for six hours while spouting quotes out of Anton LaVey's Satanic Bible.

In 1998, Jackson, Mississippi abortionist Malachi Dehenre, primary abortionist at the New Women's Clinic abortion mill, murdered his wife, Nyesha, who worked with him.

In 1998, a jury found pro-abortionist Alfred E. Smith guilty of murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend Deena Moody. Smith killed Deena because she refused to abort their preborn child.

In 1994, a jury convicted Los Angeles abortionist Alicia Ruiz Hanna of murder after Angela Sanchez, a 27-year-old mother of four, died at her Santa Ana abortion mill. The abortionist tried to stuff Angela's body into the trunk of her car in full view of her children, who were watching from the abortuary's waiting room.

In 1989, a judge sentenced Los Angeles abortionist Milos Klvana to 53 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of murdering eight newborn babies. (from his jail cell, he says NINE)

In 1983, El Paso abortionist Raymond Showery murdered a five-pound viable baby who survived one of his third-trimester abortions, and was later charged with manslaughter after botching an abortion that killed Mickey Apodaca.

In 1997, 38-year old Kevin Robinson murdered 15-year-old Daphne Sulk because he had gotten her pregnant, and she refused to get an abortion to cover up his child molestation.

•

In 2002, Matthew John Wiedeman and his friend Raymond Anthony Soto murdered 16-year old Stephanie Nicole Burnett by stabbing her repeatedly and beating her to death with a heavy steel barbell because Wiedeman believed she was pregnant and she refused to have an abortion. The coroner said "I think it's one of the most gruesome [murders] I've ever seen."

       The killing just goes on and on.
       Pro-abortionists are yellow cowards, pure and simple. They only attack and kill those weaker than themselves. For example, of the 880 people we know of who have been killed by pro-abortionists, 850 (97 percent of the victims) have been women and children and only 30 have been men. And any pro-lifer who has spent any time at all on the picket lines outside any abortion mill knows that the pro-aborts only physically attack women, the elderly, the handicapped, or children, as shown in the state-by-state documentation.
       Below is a summary of the people killed by pro-abortionists;[11]

145 pregnant women [95 pregnant girlfriends, 24 pregnant wives, and 24 other pregnant mothers];

•

360 abortion clients (for documentation, click here);

•

71 other women [including four elderly women];

•

110 born children [68 newborn babies and infants, 16 living aborted preborn babies, and 26 other children under the age of 13];

•

164 wanted preborn children [remember that even the most hard-core pro-abortionists say that the preborn child is a human being if the mother wants it]; and

•

30 men [including two pro-life activists, two abortionists, one sheriff's deputy and three elderly men].

       The most pitiful deaths of all are the murders of pregnant mothers. As the documentation list shows, pro-abortionists have raped, tortured, beaten, strangled, poisoned, stabbed, burned, murdered, and even buried alive pregnant women, many of them in their last trimester. It boggles the mind and arouses both intense pity and profound anger when one imagines some laughing pro-abortion male gleefully torturing and then murdering a poor woman who is heavily pregnant and who cannot defend herself. And it staggers the imagination to realize that no pro-abortion group has ever denounced this kind of sickening violence. In fact, in several cases, pro-abortion groups have even opposed charges being brought against the murderer for the killing of the preborn child!
       The murder of pregnant women by pro-abortion men happens far more often than most people imagine. At least three studies have shown that the most common cause of fatalities among pregnant women is murder, and statistics show that almost one-third of these are due to pro-abortion men who kill their wives or girlfriends simply because they are pregnant.

A March 2001 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that the leading cause of death among pregnant women in Maryland is homicide. Using death records and coroner reports, state health department researchers found 247 pregnancy-associated deaths between 1993 and 1998. Among those deaths, 50 were murders. By comparison, homicide was the fifth-leading cause of death among all Maryland women.

In Cook County, Illinois, 25 of the 95 pregnant women who died between 1986 and 1989 were murdered.

•

In New York, 73 of the 293 deaths among pregnant women between 1987 and 1991 were homicides.[12]

       If we use the results of these studies and basic information from the Census Bureau, we can easily calculate that about 25 to 30 women are murdered in the United States each year simply because they are pregnant.[13]

New York doctor guilty of murder in abortion death, jury of five women and seven men took only two hours to convict Dr David Benjamin of murdering Guadalupe Negron on 9 July 1993. Mrs Negron, a 33 year old Honduran immigrant to the US and a mother of four, was about 20 weeks pregnant and allegedly paid $800 (£530) for an abortion. Dr Benjamin, whose licence had been revoked in 1993 because of charges of gross incompetence and negligence in abortions performed on five women in 1990, was continuing to practise pending the outcome of his appeal.

The Abortion Underworld: READ THE WHOLE THING!

Excerpt: Two human beings died as a result of a December 1996 abortion performed by Bruce Steir: The 20-week-old unborn child carried by 27-year-old Sharon Hamptlon, and the mother herself. "I think I ve pulled bowel," Steir informed an attending nurse during the abortion a comment indicating that Steir had punctured the uterine wall. Under established medical procedures, Steir should have sent Hamptlon to a hospital. But Steir a notoriously inept practitioner who had mangled several women in Washington and Florida during his 23-year career as an abortionist had been on probation with the California medical board since 1988, and an emergency room visit from a customer would have imperiled his license.

Rather than calling an ambulance, Steir sent Hamptlon home from the Riverside, California, abortion clinic. As her mother and her three-year-old son looked on, Hamptlon a black single mother bled to death in the front seat of the car. By this time Steir was on a plane to San Francisco. As a circuit-riding abortionist, Steir had a busy schedule; there were other "clinics" to visit, and more babies to abort.

Yeah - that's what I was wondering too. You just can't call someone who murders a pregnant woman ipso facto "pro-choice." Sounds pretty meaningless to me - as does the study in general.

This is not even a study, much less a scientific one, but I was intrigued and looked further at their data. Here's my conclusion:

On the one hand, if you go to the website where the data from this new study is supposedly housed, you find something organized like an encyclopedia that is definitely not new or recently updated. For example, I looked up Rockford, IL abortionist Richard Ragsdale on their encyclopedia page and the information was all quite accurate, but they didn't include the fact that he's been dead for two years now.

On the other hand (and this goes right to the heart of HeartofDixie's wise question), the violence and other crimes committed by just the abortionists in their encyclopedia far outweigh anything I've heard about from pro-life extremeists. I'm not including abortions in that total.

For example, Ragsdale got off scot free after taking child porn photos of his toddler foster daughter. But we're talking violence here, and there were 7 killings by "pro-life" extremists from 1993-1998, so...

1. Lawrence Alozie Akpulonu raped a patient under anesthesia in 1995. Bet she wasn't the only one, just the only one who woke up while he was committing the rape.

2 & 3. Akpulonu "was also given probation for brandishing a loaded handgun in front of pro-lifers and threatening their lives. ...Akpulonu threatened a parking garage attendant with a loaded .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol, which he had been carrying concealed in his vehicle, when the attendant asked him to remove his improperly parked car from a restricted area." Since those two happened before 1993, I'll put them aside for now...guess I'll have to come up with a total of 9 incidents.

4. Philip S. Alberts lost his license in 1995 after it came to light that he had molested over 100 women. He died before trial but prosecuters had 89 women slated to testify against him.

5. Abortionist Peter Bayliss tied one patient to a bed and stuff a sanitary pad in their mouth to keep them quiet.

6. In 1993, David Benjamin allowed a woman whose abortion he had botched to die in his clinic because he waited for at least an hour before summoning an ambulance. A paramedic testified that his efforts to save her were hindered when Benjamin lied about the nature of her condition and treament, and he was indicted for murder because of his "depraved indifference to human life."

7. In 1998, John Biskind and his staff botched an abortion and then left the victim hemorrhaging on a gurney for three hours before calling 911. Paramedics estimated that she had been dead for at least 20 minutes when they arrived.

8. The previous month a woman was bleeding in Biskind's recovery room. He scraped her uterus without anesthesia to find the source of the bleeding. It didn't stop, but he left the clinic and the woman was saved because a nurse called 911.

9. I'm including this one here even though it's after 1998 because it would be too cumbersome for the "catch-all" para below: "Reich was charged with 28 counts of battery, attempted battery, sexual misconduct, prescribing drugs without a license, coercion, and impersonating a doctor. Reich sexually assaulted two of his abortion patients, forcing them to have oral sex with him. Another patient claimed that Reich raped her and botched one of her abortions. Several court testimonies claimed that Reich sexually abused at least six of his patients and botched operations on at least four others." (Found in the entry for "Nicholas Braemer," who he took over the clinic from in 2000.

10. On June 6, 1993, abortionist Stanley Brown tried to run down 79-year old Mrs. Margaret Cowell with his car. He also was found to have performed tubal ligations on pateints without their consent in the Eighties and lost his license for two years in 1988.

Note that I stopped at "Brown" on their alphabetical list of violent/incompetent abortionists. So that's ten, and it's just the abortionists--not even all the abortionists with A and B names--no nurses, protestors, clinic escorts, non-activists killing their girlfriends, etc. In addition, on my list of ten incidents of violence I did not include the following: 7 deaths through botched abortion, 1 abortion so badly botched it was definitely some sort of homicide, an attempt to hide the body of another woman killed by a botched abortion, 1 abortion performed in 1983 on a woman who wasn't pregnant, several abortions without consent prior to 1993, a 1988 death from using an overdose of Lidocaine in lieu of a general anesthetic (with up to two patients per day having siezures from the use of lidocaine overdoses), an Aussie abortionist who tied a patient to a bed and stuffed a sanitary napkin in her mouth, the wife of said Aussie abortionist intentionally letting him die after he fell down some stairs, abotched 1986 abortion which was ruled "homicide" by the coroner because the abortionist had screwed up so badly and then bundled the patient out of the facility when she collapsed, an abortionist charged for brandishing a pistol at abortion protesters (charges dropped because of "discrepancies in witness' descriptions"), an abortioist who did a late-term abortion and only managed to remove one arm from the child who bled out and was stillborn and a case of an abortionist selling controlled meds to addicts.

So, here's my suggestion: Don't cite their "study," but you can believe with all your heart that their conclusion is accurate. In fact, it's probably too lenient. And unless they faked all their cites, their data is ironclad.

Somebody needs to do a real study on this subject with solid methodology.

Most violence is not from any political class but a social class -the lowest one. This is a silly study which seems to have an odd attitude. Why does anyone believe that such a conclusion would help convince anyone that abortion is bad?

The idea that boyfriends who want their girlfriends to have an abortion are part of the violent pro-abortion crowd is a real stretch.

Tossing in such irrelevant data makes me suspect that they can't support their original assertion with actual hard data.

Right, people don't go to jail because they are democrats, they go to jail because they commit crimes. And who commits crimes? Mostly poor people. Most of the inmates are gang bangers, drug dealers, drug users, armed robbers, muggers, purse snatchers, home and car burglars. Does he really think most of these people are actually republicans?
