The above is a clear and concise definition of tribalism. Note that the American concept of the individual is totally alien to the African one.
To an American, one is responsible for ones actions - not so for an African. For example, if an American had hacked off arms of, Libroids for example, he would be held strictly responsible. Yet an African can not only be an arm hacker, he can join his fellow tribesmen in roasting and eating the arm in front of the still living (but 'disarmed') victim - AND be considered an upstanding member of his tribe.
After all, the tribe did it.
