Clinton's Kosovo Whopper
Accuracy in Media ^ | September 27, 2006 | Cliff Kincaid

Of all the whoppers told by former President Clinton in his Chris Wallace interview, perhaps the most outrageous was his claim that he was involved in "trying to stop a genocide in Kosovo..." In fact, Clinton's bombing of the former Yugoslavia killed more people than died in this "genocide." And his policy benefited Osama bin Laden and the global Jihad.

In the year before the bombing, some 2,000 people had been killed in a civil war in Kosovo. A conservative estimate is that 6,000 were killed by U.S. and NATO bombs.

It's strange as well that Clinton complained to Wallace about the "neocons" attacking him when many of the same neocons in 1999 supported Clinton's war on Yugoslavia. The war was never approved by the U.N. or the U.S. Congress, and in fact violated the War Powers Act. The main beneficiary of the intervention was a Muslim terrorist group, the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), with links to bin Laden, who had declared war on America in 1996, bombed our embassies in Africa in 1998, and would later, of course, orchestrate 9/11.

When former CIA official Michael Scheuer says that the Clinton Administration "had eight to ten chances" to kill bin Laden and "they refused to try," he is making a statement that goes far beyond acknowledging Clinton Administration incompetence or a lack of will. The fact is that Clinton had a pro-Muslim foreign policy that actually benefited bin Laden and facilitated 9/11. Most Republicans don't mention this because too many of them were duped into backing Clinton's misguided policy in Kosovo. President Bush, then a candidate, even backed U.S. military intervention there through NATO.

[...] It is noteworthy that the CIA issued a January 2000 report that essentially whitewashed the nature of the KLA and claimed it was pro-American.

And so are you, if you're an American, both in Iraq and Afghanistan.

And now the moral equivalence route, eh?

I don't see our allies in Iraq and Afghanistan ethnically cleansing a quarter million people.

A quarter of a million is less than 800,000.

Lesser of two evils, see?

800,000? Even if your claim is true (which I doubt, given your history), that's out of a combined population of what, 26 million?

Now, what percentage of Serbs have been cleansed from Kosovo? At least three-quarters, from what I have read.

But given your demonstrated hatred of the Serbs, you're probably fine with that.

Even if your claim is true

Lemme guess, you want me to find you another article from some source who cheerleads against the Serbs?

I think you can do that yourself by now - your ignorance is ultimately your own cross to bear, not mine.

your demonstrated hatred of the Serbs

Kinda like saying Americans hate Iraqis because we toppled Saddam and continue to fight the dead-enders. Oh well, par for the course with you, it seems. So long as Serbia remains under the thrall of its own version of the Ba'athist party, it's going to continue to get the short end of the stick, and you can revel with your friends in the perceived victimizatioin and injustice of it all.

So be it.

Joan, you have took Clinton's Rwanda lie hook line and sinker, like many peopl ehave took Clinton Kosovo lie. Google "MPRI RWANDA" for starters.

The storyline of Rwanda takeover is very similar to Kosovo. And the actors are the same. Did you know for example that the general in Pentagon responsible for Africa was Weasley KLArk?

You are the one who mentioned 800,000. In what context?

The ethnic cleansing claimed to support the Kosovo invasion was largely false. The ethnic cleansing of the Serbs is a fact on the ground now.

I think you can do that yourself by now - your ignorance is ultimately your own cross to bear, not mine.

Ignorance? Or unwillingness to swallow your pro-Islamic propaganda?

More like you'll just keep cheerleading the development of an Islamisic state in the Balkans. One that will haunt Europe for decades to come, if not longer.

Nah. It's your claim that's in question, so it's your responsibility to back it up with the relevant cite.

Either that or withdraw your unsupported comments and I'll happily answer whatever questions you may have.

Thanks you for this post. To this day, I cannot understand ow so many people, including some FReepers, supported this mad adventure. Poor innocent people of Belgrade, who ever raises their name these days?

One trick I have pulled effectively with libs; I ask them,

"so you don't like the way Bush went into Iraq, because he didn't have Congressional approval, he didn't go to the UN, and the stated reason for military action was never proved. Wheras Clinton went to the UN regarding Bosnia, got Congressional approval for Bosnia, and the stated reason was definitively proved correct. Is that right?"

I guarantee 9 out of 10 will say "RIGHT!".

Then, you can have a field day. LOL!

I am telling you something I know.

No, you're refusing to address some assertions which I've questioned because I think they're BS. I've never seen any reports of non-Albanians recovered from the clandestine mass graves inside Serbia, outside of the Bytyqi brothers, who were Americans.

In short, I have been looking into this matter ever since the graves were disclosed back in 2001, so don't try and foist your responsibilities onto my shoulders.

Either support your comments or retract them.

No, nor have you in the past, which is the problem, because what I've read in the past makes your comments appear like merely something you threw out onto the forum without bothering to check if they were correct or not.

Whatever - you appear to have the usual amount of dedication towards intellectual honesty as the rest of the pro-Serb crowd.

We're done.
