Seems to be a lot of that going on in that state.

To whom could you possibly be alluding?

Did you know I'm a VN Vet and have 3 purple hearts, and a bronze star with V, and a silver star? I also was in Cambodia for Christmas. I'm also an expert snow boarder.

If he wins the nominiation I will vote for him.

Just personal opinion here but I don't think he has the backbone to be a world leader.

Ronald Reagan....

Allowed abortion as CA Gov.; didn’t push pro-life as Pres. Reagan was not as obsessive about anti-abortion legislation as he often seemed. Early in his California governorship he had signed a permissive abortion bill that has resulted in more than a million abortions. Afterward, he inaccurately blamed this outcome on doctors, saying that they had deliberately misinterpreted the law.

When Reagan ran for president, he won backing from pro-life forces by advocating a constitutional amendment that would have prohibited all abortions except when necessary to save the life of the mother. Reagan’s stand was partly a product of political calculation, as was his tactic after he was elected of addressing the annual pro-life rally held in Washington by telephone so that he would not be seen with the leaders of the movement on the evening news.

While I do not doubt Reagan’s sincerity in advocating an anti-abortion amendment, he invested few political resources toward obtaining this goal.

No damn way I'm voting for Reagan. I mean what is he some kind of flip flopper?

Are you blind?

"I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. I have since the time when my Mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a U.S. Senate candidate. I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years that we should sustain and support it, and I sustain and support that law and the right of a woman to make that choice." -Mitt Romney in a 1994 Senatorial debate

"I respect and will fully protect a woman's right to choose. That choice is a deeply personal one, and the women of our state should make it based on their beliefs, not mine and not the government's." -Mitt Romney in a 2002 GOP acceptance speech If that doesn't say it for you then i don't know what is. Your blinders are clearly getting in the way.

>>>> ..... [Romney] ran away from the conservative label when he ran for election both times in MA. Only now that he wants to be president he's jumping the conservative bandwagon.

Romney's run against Ted Kennedy wasn't a profile in conservative courage. Nor was his campaign for Governor either. Can't say I'd rule out voting for Romney if he wins the nomination, but there are better conservative candidates available to the GOP. The GOP hasn't nominated a pro-choice/pro-abortion candidate since Gerald Ford in 1976 and I don't see it that changing for the GOP`s 2008 primary-nomination process. It would fracture the GOP and allow a Democrat to win. Ann Coulter said to Sean Hannity the other night, that she will not vote for a candidate who supports abortion. Sounds like a good policy for ALL conservatives to follow.

"Not a single quote where he calls himself pro-choic..."

***"I respect and will fully protect a woman's right to choose. That choice is a deeply personal one, and the women of our state should make it based on their beliefs, not mine and not the government's."?-Mitt Romney in a 2002 GOP acceptance speech***

You find a difference in "a woman's right to choose," and "a pro-choice"? Kindly explain the difference in the two terms to me.

I will agree that Gingrich is the most articulate conservative. But, because of his past, I don't think he could get the nomination.

I can't see Frist being the conservative Christian choice with his waffling on the use of embryos and stem cell research. Also, he waffled again on illegal immigration. I think he takes the Kerry award on his flip flops. Even if he was running, Cheney wouldn't get far with his lack of support for the Marriage Amendment and a prominent campaign position for his lesbian daughter.

Wrong, that article is pure bs about reagan. Reagan signed a law that almost ALL of us would sign. This is pure bs passed around by romney supporters. The law reagan signed, is the law most of us advocate. It allows abortion in the case of rape, incest, and "health" of the mother. Problem is back then nobody realized that the "health" loophole would be exploited as it had been. That is why today most abortion laws specificy exactly what this health exception means. Reagan admitted shortly after he realized what happened that it was a mistake and the law wasn't being used as he intended. He didnt, say in 1975, go oh crap, i want to be president, i'm pro life now.

Romney in fact trashed reagan and bush during his campaign against kennedy. He wanted to run away from national republicans. Funny that now reagan is his hero.

So you won't vote for Romney because he is areturned missionary? Wow, I hope you hold all Christian missionaries in the same light...la

Well stating clearly that you "support a woman's right to choose" is effectively the same thing as calling yourself pro-choice. To say otherwise is parsing words and splitting hairs in the way Clinton operates. It really is PD...it is not close like horseshoes--it's effectively the exact same thing as saying you're pro-choice.

Romney appears to have a problem here. He's got to watch this kind of apparent blatant deception. This is the kind of thing we see with John Kerry and it's not going to work for a GOP candidate. I think if all those quotes from Mitt are accurate, he needs to say that he changed his mind and explain why in clear terms. I like many attributes of Romney but he had better knock off this kind of deception or its going to cost him later. Again, my comments are assuming that all the quotes posted about Mitt are correct.

I don't like it when Mormon's come to my door and try to convert me, and I assume that many other people don't as well. It is an inconsiderate form of personal behavior.

Quick way to end the conversation -- invite the door-knockers in, and say, "I'd be glad to share my testimony with you, but I can't argue religion with you. You have an unfair advantage. I need to tell the truth about what I believe, and you are permitted to lie about what you believe." Some of the Mormon doctrines -- like their god's heavenly harem on the planet Kolob -- are insane. OTOH, every Mormon I know has better character than the god he worships. They don't approve of defiling betrothed virgins, even tho their deity is reputed to have had carnal knowledge of teh preveiousl=virgin Mary to beget Jesus!

In other news, Romney acknowledged "Sure, I enjoy having frequent sexual encounters with other men, but I've never accepted the label 'homosexual.'"

"The conservative Christian choice at this moment has to be Frist."

If that's true, the ballgame is pretty much over for Conservative Christians.

I agree that Gingrich's messy divorce is a huge obstacle for him to overcome.

Frist is a professional medical guy who already knew the info that a single cell could be taken from an embryo without affecting its viability.

I don't think he's waffled on immigration any more than our other senators, congressmen, and the president. They seem to be getting their act together with the FENCE bill. If he opposes that, then Frist is dead meat.

Cheney isn't running, but it's fun to speculate. He's articulate, smart, a devastating debater, and the logical one to continue the war on terror. His daughter is not him, but he would lose Christian conservatives if he came out in opposition to the marriage amendment.

He needs to just go with the Nebraska court and admit that the state has a compelling interest to steer procreative couples into marriage.
