Third Night of 'Ramadan Rioting' in Capital of Europe
The Brussels Journal ^ | 09/27/2006 | Paul Belien

Posted on 09/27/2006 6:50:46 AM PDT by Republicain

It looks as if immigrants youths want to turn nightly rioting during the Islamic holy month of ramadan into an annual tradition. Around 8:30pm last night violence erupted again in Brussels, the capital of Europe. The riots centered on the Brussels Marollen quarter and the area near the Midi Train Station, where the international trains from London and Paris arrive. Youths threw stones at passing people and cars, windows of parked cars were smashed, bus shelters were demolished, cars were set ablaze, a youth club was arsoned and a shop was looted. Two molotov cocktails were thrown into St.Peter’s hospital, one of the main hospitals of central Brussels. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fires at the hospital, but youths managed to steal the keys of the fire engine.

During the month of ramadan Muslims are required to fast during the day and are only allowed to eat after sunset. As Esther pointed out “What should be noticed about the riots is that they start after sunset. Besides the fact that they start after dark, it also gives the rioters enough time to break their fast and enjoy the traditional family meal. Sunset is around 7:30pm.” Tuesday’s and Monday’s riots began around 8:30pm.

Last night the police arrested 45 rioters. One of them will be prosecuted for assaulting the owner of a shop. Philippe Close, the chef de cabinet of the Mayor of Brussels, Freddy Thielemans, said that the authorities would continue their efforts to defuse the situation in a peaceful manner, but he announced that the police will be less complacent in future, “since we cannot tolerate that this [Marollen] neighbourhood falls victim to a problem from outside the neighbourhood.”

The immigrant youths claim that they are upset by the death of Fayçal Chaaban, a 25-year old criminal, in a Brussels prison last Sunday. Yesterday morning the authorities announced they would hold a meeting with the youths to hear their grievances about security in prison, but the meeting, which was due last night, could not take place because of the riots.

The authorities are especially nervous since the Belgian municipal elections are being held on Sunday October 8th. It is likely that the elections will be won by anti-immigrant, “islamophobic” parties. Since ramadan will not be over on October 8th and many immigrants might perceive a victory of the indigenous right (as opposed to their own far-right) as an insult, Muslim indignation over the election results in major cities may spark serious disturbances. According to a poll published today the Vlaams Belang party is set to win 38.6% of the vote in Antwerp (compared to 33,0% in the previous municipal elections six years ago).

I've even used that functionality to search for comments/threads I (and others) have posted in ancient threads.

It is not complete and it has a lag time of a couple of days (so some older threads won't be there and the newest won't either).

The Vatican doesn't bar non-Catholics from entering.

Mormons will let you enter their temple during/after construction. There was a big one built in Houston and some people I know went to check it out; they knew that access would be limited afterwards.

You can even enter muslim mosques. You cannot enter the holiest muslim city. You are subhuman in their worldview. Deal with that.

And that is the history of Islam has been since the beginning, and continuing until the present moment, one of unremitting bloodshed, rapine, looting, and military aggression - in the name of God.

There is nothing comparable in Judaism.

You have your reading of the Old Testament. Other people have theirs. It would be hard to deny that it contains bloodshed, rape, looting, and military agression.

And I don't hate all Muslims or promote killing them.

Are you in league with the Nuke Mecca Crowd? If not, will you denounce them?

"It's about time that the world took steps to move the Moslem's back to their sandbox while we can."

Amen to that. Now is better than later. Must be done.

In the last fourteen hundred years, the followers of Islam have raped, pillaged, slaughtered, taxed and forcibly converted their way across the world.

Have the Jews done that in the last fourteen hundred years? Are there large swaths of the world inhabited by Jews whose ancestors were Buddhists, Hindus, Christians etc who were forced into Islam? Are there Jewish synagogues which were previously Hindu temples or Christian churches, which they stole from the previous worshippers?

Etcetcetcetcetc.

If you don't see the difference between the history of Judaism and Islam you're really far gone.

People who say "kill all Muslims" are either speaking hyperbole or they are bloodthirsty, in which case I heartily disagree with them.

But I am much, much more disgusted and angered with real Muslims who are really beheading, raping, slaughtering, bombing and so on infidels and are at this very moment planning more of the same.

It's not a temple until it has been dedicated as one. After that, non-Mormons are forbidden from entering.

The Vatican happily accepts non-Christians in its territory. Missionary activity is illegal.

You can even enter muslim mosques. You cannot enter the holiest muslim city. You are subhuman in their worldview.

I can't enter the holiest Mormon sites -- of which there are many -- either. Does Mitt Romney think I'm subhuman?

Deal with that.

I would be perfectly welcome in either place if I converted to the corresponding faith, something I freely choose not to do. If I were truly subhuman, they wouldn't accept me as a convert, much like the Nazis who considered Jewish converts to Christianity to be Üntermenschen still. They are free to restrict access to their religious sites and I am free to not care. It might not be the ideal situation, but it's hardly evidence of some Muslomormon plot against me.

The problem is most of these punks are born in Europe and are EU citizens. Where do you deport them to? France? They cannot be sent to their parents home countries.

If pushed up against the wall, the Europeans will figure out a solution. The solution will probably involving changing or ignoring current laws and treaties. The Muslims should hope the Europeans are not pushed to considering an excessively final solution

I see plenty of differences. I also see that bigots across the world are more or less the same in their irrational hatred for [insert group here].

People who say "kill all Muslims" are either speaking hyperbole or they are bloodthirsty, in which case I heartily disagree with them.

Disagreement does not a denouncement make, but I'll be willing to consider you a provisional "moderate".

But I am much, much more disgusted and angered with real Muslims who are really beheading, raping, slaughtering, bombing and so on infidels and are at this very moment planning more of the same.

Whether or not they're "real Muslims" is certainly debatable. But they are real people, not lounge-chair generals calling for genocide, and their acts are very real acts that must very really be stopped very very soon.

Not unless they change the laws. Nothing is impossible.

The "home countries" will not take them either. Look at the ME refugee problem created when Israel's neighbors attacked in 1948. The Grandchildren are still refugees almost 60 years later.

When Israel gave the Sinai back to Egypt, they should have made a condition that Egypt also take all the Gazan Palestinians

Nuking Mecca doesn't even have to be about death. Evacuate the city (although some would choose to die as martyrs/human shields I suppose) before the bombs fall.

Could Islam stand if one of the five pillars were to fall? It is a philosophical question more than an implied or overt threat.

It would be demoralizing to be sure as would destruction of our nation's White House (even if the President was making a speech that day, as he was on 9-11-2001). But the destruction of Mecca or the White House wouldn't mean the end of Islam or America.

But what is Islam? Is it a faith that transcends borders or is it an ideology that seeks the expand the empire (and notions of apportioning slaves seized in jihad "only after they are brought back to Islamic territory" support that concept).

Is allegiance to God/Allah or to the Islamic world?

The Imam on Ask the Imam say it is wrong for muslims in America to serve in combat against other muslisms. No distinction between a just or unjust war; the decision is to be made on the basis of "us" and "them".

When real muslims rise up against the "maybe not real muslims" for hijacking their faith and blaspheming Allah/Mohammed and the teachings of the Koran, I will accept that they aren't "real".

And it will be necessary for muslims who oppose such action to denounce them publicly and often before the threat will be over.

Can you believe this crap? So the Nazis didn't like Jews just because some Jews were Communists. And then comparing this to Muslims whose religion dictates that they kill infidels.

From one way of looking at it, the comparison is not too outrageous. Looking at it from the perspective of the German middle class in the 1920's, they had seen the 1918 Russian Revolution come to power with a disproportionately large number of Jewish names (Jewish ethnicity, not necessarily religiously Jewish) among the leadership. Just after WW-I the Spartacist League tried a Communist Revolution in Germany. In 1919 they saw Bela Kun stage a bloody Communist revolution in Hungary

So it was not hard to radicalize the German middle class with the notion that they faced the risk of liquidation in a Communist takeover

I found some video here - not much. Hope your French is better than mine. (LOL about your pic BTW) Looks like it opens with shots of the prison where the Muslim prisoner died and then shows limited scenes of damage.
