It looks as if immigrants youths want to turn nightly rioting during the Islamic holy month of ramadan into an annual tradition. Around 8:30pm last night violence erupted again in Brussels, the capital of Europe. The riots centered on the Brussels Marollen quarter and the area near the Midi Train Station, where the international trains from London and Paris arrive. Youths threw stones at passing people and cars, windows of parked cars were smashed, bus shelters were demolished, cars were set ablaze, a youth club was arsoned and a shop was looted. Two molotov cocktails were thrown into St.Peters hospital, one of the main hospitals of central Brussels. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fires at the hospital, but youths managed to steal the keys of the fire engine.
During the month of ramadan Muslims are required to fast during the day and are only allowed to eat after sunset. As Esther pointed out What should be noticed about the riots is that they start after sunset. Besides the fact that they start after dark, it also gives the rioters enough time to break their fast and enjoy the traditional family meal. Sunset is around 7:30pm. Tuesdays and Mondays riots began around 8:30pm.
Last night the police arrested 45 rioters. One of them will be prosecuted for assaulting the owner of a shop. Philippe Close, the chef de cabinet of the Mayor of Brussels, Freddy Thielemans, said that the authorities would continue their efforts to defuse the situation in a peaceful manner, but he announced that the police will be less complacent in future, since we cannot tolerate that this [Marollen] neighbourhood falls victim to a problem from outside the neighbourhood.
The immigrant youths claim that they are upset by the death of Fayçal Chaaban, a 25-year old criminal, in a Brussels prison last Sunday. Yesterday morning the authorities announced they would hold a meeting with the youths to hear their grievances about security in prison, but the meeting, which was due last night, could not take place because of the riots.
The authorities are especially nervous since the Belgian municipal elections are being held on Sunday October 8th. It is likely that the elections will be won by anti-immigrant, islamophobic parties. Since ramadan will not be over on October 8th and many immigrants might perceive a victory of the indigenous right (as opposed to their own far-right) as an insult, Muslim indignation over the election results in major cities may spark serious disturbances. According to a poll published today the Vlaams Belang party is set to win 38.6% of the vote in Antwerp (compared to 33,0% in the previous municipal elections six years ago).

Why are they so scared of the Muslims being "insulted". Just round them up and send them home, and the remaining ones will stop being so sensitive.
Bullets are cheaper than jihadists.
When the west sees nothing from arabic countries except celebration in the face of islamist homicide bombers, the whole-sale slaughter of our women and children, it is very difficult for most westerners to turn the other cheek.
I do not believe that many of the posters here would be capable of the slaughter they speak of. I think they are venting.
"Without sliding into a dangerous discussion here, it was a little more complicated than that. There was a lot of resentment in Europe in the 30's against the Jews because they were associated to the Socialist-Communist Internationalism...a little bit like we now associate every Muslims to International Terrorism."
Can you believe this crap? So the Nazis didn't like Jews just because some Jews were Communists. And then comparing this to Muslims whose religion dictates that they kill infidels.
Admin Mod - don't you think the hook is needed here?
LOL
Agreed. And remember, there's nothing wrong with passion in and of itself, but passion must be tempered with humanity and humillity.
do not believe that many of the posters here would be capable of the slaughter they speak of. I think they are venting.
Agreed. There seems to be an inverse correlation. The least capable people make the most vicious death threats. Those who bloviate about Nuking Mecca if they were in the White House are quite understandably unelectable and most likely incompetent for the CiC job anyway.
That said, it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt. And the Nuke Mecca crowd doesn't care that if their murderous threats here become acts in the read world, this website would most likely be shut down, given that the violent bigots post early and often here about what they'd do to the moose-limbs if only they could get their hands on some...
Waving around a hook might dislodge the "Muslims are required to kill non-Muslims" assumption on which your argument so precipitously hangs.
I think of this Scripture ALL the time, acw011.
Thank you for posting.
Equating the anti-Semitism which caused the deaths of around 6 million Jews with anti-Islamic jihad attitudes is worse than stupid.
The religion of peace makes people destroy things during its "holy" month.
I've been watching these reports over at Brussels Journal and have been thinking the same thing.
Agreed. But that's not what's being equated. It's the anti-Semitism of pre-Nazi Germany that the poster compared to an anti-Muslim bigotry that references Islamist terrorism but does not care to distinguish between Muslims.
I've said it before, nothing says month long fast for holiness like violence and rioting. And they seem oblivious to the obvious contradiction.
Let's hope so.
I agree with most of your statements, and did not mean to imply that you are uneducated. I mean to say that the outspoken few here will not change, human nature being what it is, when the media glorifies the Rosie O' s of this world, and appologizes for the western way of life as many moslims are mercilessly blown to pieces in a struggle for their freedom (/sarcasm) many here are going to vent.
Maybe it's time to change that rule. Expel them from the country. Send them to an Islamic country, if they'll have them...
There is a capitol of Europe?
There can't be a capitol of a continent.
Seems like Belgium is full of itself.
OK, congegration, we'll have prayers, then we'll break the fast, then we'll burn some cars and stone the police, then we'll have a demonstration on how to saw heads off living people. The religion of peace speaks
This is exactly what happens in North Minneapolis. It doesn't work in Minnesota and it won't work in Brussels.
As long as these nations tolerate this crap, these Islamicists are going to continue to behave in this manner. I wonder if the leaders of these countries will ever wise up.
