I remember him quite well. The first time I saw him was when he was host of the $64,000 Challenge. And of course I remember him at KNXT/KCBS-TV.

Putnam is still kicking rump, and taking names.

"Ralph Story's Los Angeles," I grew up watching that show many, many times with my Dad, who was born and raised in LA. Between Ralph and my Dad I think I pretty much had LA history covered from 1927 to 1967.
RIP, Ralph.

RIP Ralph. Man sure glad Putnam is still alive. I heard a while back Stan Chambers is still around.
Most of those guys from early days TV are gone.
I was born in LA in 1947, lived in LA County until I left for grad school in 1970.

I enjoyed his reporting in the days when I watched television. Those days are gone.

I also grew up watching that show. Los Angeles history was indeed fascinating. He later had a brief early-morning talk show with Stephanie Edwards (who had been his secretary, he gave her her big break) in the time slot that the Regis morning show now holds. (I wonder if I'm the only one who remembers that?)
He struck me as a smart, fun guy and a real gentleman. May he rest in peace.
