US Senator George Allen is responding to more allegations of racist behavior.
The latest comes from a former college teammate.
Former teammate Doctor Ken Shelton says, "Allen said he came to Virginia because he wanted to play football in a place where 'blacks knew their place.'"
"He used the N-word on a regular basis back then," said Shelton, who was in Salon.com.
During a hunting outing with Allen and another teammate, Shelton says Allen drove the three to a black neighborhood and "he proceeded to take the doe's head and stuff it into a mailbox."
Bishop Gerald Glenn says he used to see Allen as a Confederate flag waving redneck and has talked to the senator about his perception problem in the African American community.
While the two still disagree on key issues, Glenn says assassinating Allen's character does nothing for the voters of Virginia.
Allen told reporters today that he and Doctor Shelton weren't close and haven't spoken to each other in more than 30 years. Other teammates have released statements saying they've never heard Allen use racial slurs.
Allen's approval rating is down in the latest poll released today by SurveyUSA. The poll was taken last week, so the numbers do not reflect possible reaction to the Salon.com article.
Easy to see why you were banned in the first place.
Gee, sorry, guys, but I didn't call anyone anything. And I kind of liked Allen until I heard these charges. I don't care how young he was---a serious candidate shouldn't have those reckless ignorant and hateful things in his history, even if he was doing it as "a joke". I was trying to objectively appraise the political picture and gamesmanship more than accusing anyone of being a KKK Robert Byrd bigot. I sense that Allen is a bit of an ass, whereas I sense that Mitt Romney is not. Mitt Romney at least has done a few things recently that deserve respect and show some backbone re: Islamic intimidation. The Dems have already spoken as to who it is they want eliminated from contention; I would not defend Allen just because the Dems have attacked him.
The charges might be false---let's see him defend himself, rather than the usual "that's not worthy or response,etc.".
Bingo! The Internet is a beautiful thing, ain't it? It's entirely possible that Allen and his pals did put a deer head in somebody's mailbox, as a juvenile prank that lots of people had done before and lots have done since. (I've never heard of it, but I have never lived in der hunting country either.) But Ken Shelton comes along and makes it out to be something sinister, which cannot be disproven because the other person who was there is conveniently dead.
Well I'll characterize it. I think it gets better every day. I've been here 8 years, and post everyday. It just doesn't get any better than that.
Now, hmmmm..... Where'd I put my life..........?????
So, can Doctor Ken Shelton prove that he pulled his head out of his @$$ long enough to witness this claim?
These idiots are just juvenile 'rats trolling the board for kicks. There's hundreds of 'em out there with sleeper accounts. I've noticed they tend to favor these Allen threads since, I suppose, they think they can gain some traction and "misdirect" the stupid Pubbies.
Right.
Like AmishDude said in his solid response to this troll:
...don't hit your head on the bottom of the bridge.
The scum demonrats have plenty of company on FR, it would seem.
Why haven't these fools come out before? It is not like Allen hasn't run for a national office in the past!!!!!
Both Dr. Shelton and Bishop Glenn are admitted liberals, and ones wife is a liberal activist. Several of Allen's school mates have come out and said these charges are false, which shouldn't surprise anyone.
The libs are scared to death of Allen, if they didn't see him as a winner he wouldn't be a target.
Did you see Molly Henenberg on Brit Hume's newscast tonight? She called Shelton's house to get an interview but his wife said that "THEY told him not to talk to FOX."
Yup, he's in concert with SOMEONE and at this point I put nothing past any of 'em.
Watch the repeat of Hume at midnight if you missed it. The Allen piece should be on around 12:25 a.m. EST
Because this story is a new invention?
This is a classic smear campaign, started deliberately by the Webb campaign through the ultra-sleazy Salon website, and then picked up verbatim by the leftists at the Associated Press and the Allen-hating Washington Post. I have contrasted especially the Post's running with this story without any additional reporting and sourcing, to their refusal in 1998 to run Michael Isikoff's scoop aboout Bill Clinton having an affair with an intern, because they didn't think it was sourced well enough!
I am here to be educated, and , seriously, thank you.
I know all about smear campaigns, having lived through 8 years of the reign of Bubba Clinton. I wish though, once and for all, someone would throw the charges forcefully back into the faces of the accuser and expose them for what they are. Even though I may wind up favoring some other candidate over Allen, I have an absolutely bottomless appetite for exposing the thuggish Left, if indeed (as I am finding out)that's the pedigree of Allen's accuser. So once again, as with the others on this thread who have gently flamed me, I thank you.
Seems your are still looking at polling data from July. It is September now. Try to catch up.
...or he's a liberal.
I don't believe he did that.
A serious poster should not immediately believe a proven liar who is on his third try to smear a candidate.
Extraordinary statements require extraordinary proof. Your reckless, ignorant and hateful posts not withstanding it is not up to Allen to defend himself or offer any kind of proof but it is up to the two time liar to produce the proof.
